Havnt seen this yet, but only checked the 1st page.
Ouch
Nope nope nope nope, f it!
Fresh undercrackers, if you please.
wowy... must admit to laughing a little at that.
not so cool now, are you mr. base jumper? huh? with your dirtied underware and grazed knuckles.
Bloody hell , very lucky the chute didn't fold up completely.
Nuts 😯
He/she didn't exactly launch out from the top, just sort of fell forward.
lucky the chute didn't get ripped in half .
The whole cliff face seemed smooth the whole way down apart from the one ridiculously right angled jutting out bit he hit 😆
Superb piece of rock though - wonder where that is? Not Cheddar for sure!
Watched that open mouthed in fear. No, no. No
Wow. What was he trying to do? Use his hands as a brake??!
Exactly as I pictured it with good old Wile e coyote
Would have shown it in real time first if it had been mine so you could see the full horror of it then go back for an appreciation of the detail. As it was you had no real idea of how fas he was falling in slow-mo and it somehow didn't look too bad.
Damn lucky to be alive after that.
You think it was lots of little f words on way down or one long continuous f word?
Think I would have went for lots of little f words.
There's a C4 documentary about the British base jumper chap who's lost 2 or 3 partners through accidents.
He was saying it's 50/50 that the chute flips you around so you face the wall, and there's not much you can do when that happens.
Not for me, thanks!
Noticed the comments on vimeo? This one is gonna go global!

Also: Compression Fracture of the T12 Vertebra, 5 stitches to the eye, 6 stitches to the chin, severely sprained Back, wrist and hand. multiple bruised areas.
Wonder if he went back up and gave it another go!
i dont think those knee pads were going to help with that one!

Id always assumed that there was a technique for chute-packing that ensured it came out a particular way.
I guess not.
Lucky guy.

particularly in the ego area...
but, seeing it in real time it makes a very good advert for the GoPro mounting system, doesn't it.... 🙂

Nah, he'd never manage to hit that rock again.
Excellent use of THE base-jumper anthem there.
"This is how an angel... ssssssssssshhhaaaaaaaaaaaaaargh... *splat*...
...SAIL!"
Kids - this is why you look at the gap between the trees!
What tyres for a cliff face..?
Stoner - MemberId always assumed that there was a technique for chute-packing that ensured it came out a particular way.

IIRC it happens to someone during the documentary, but they're 'saved' by trees.
EDIT - found it 'The Men Who Jump Off Buildings'

Ah.
Don't look up Dwain Weston on Google or youtube.
Not nice.
Not nice at all.
Don't Google Dwain Weston.
You know when someone suggests you don't do something you'd never previously considered doing and suddenly it's the *only* thing you consider doing. Well that.
I shall try not to though.
Did he die?
It's certainly a high risk activity. He was very lucky not to have the chute snag and/or collapse.
UKBikeSkills posted the video this morning on fb
Did he die?
Yup.
He hit a bridge. 😐
Cheers, I won't google it.
Watching people die isn't on my list of work avoidance strategies.

Someone e-mailed it to me the day before I did a bungee jump. 😯
That's in Moab. Looks like he's jumping from the overlook on Slick Rock over the Colorado River.

what an idiot.....
i've not much sympathy for these guys when something goes wrong. yeah, they may have families and all that, but it's not like they aren't/weren't aware of the risks.

So very much like someone riding a mountain bike down a hill covered in rocks and roots when they should be sat quietly on the sofa watching the footie then?
I saw a documentary that featured Dwain Weston a year or so ago which kind of showed the footage of him hitting the bridge. The screen went black at the point of impact but the audio stays on. I think it was actually about Jeb Corliss. It showed him (Jeb) afterwards covered in claret. I vowed then never to google it. They spoke to some of the people who were on the bridge when he hit it and given that the documentary was a fair few years after the event you could see they were still very much haunted by it. Dreadful.
