I went for a run on my own then spent the evening catching up on Ski Sunday whilst eating the teas I'd cooked myself, sitting on my own on the sofa. Then switched the computer on to do an hour or 2's work until midnight.
But I don't care cos on monday my missus had her 12-wk scan 🙂
Mine was pretty rubbish. Thought i had two dates lined up but ended up not having any 🙁 .
Not as planned
I rode the new love of my life into the night
Working. I had planned to be home early (around 8.00pm). Finished at one this morning. 🙁
Good job I have an understanding wife.
I thought my gf and I had an understanding. I thought we didn't do anything for valentines day because it's a crock of sh... and our anniversary is a couple of days before, which we celebrate properly.
I was wrong. We had an understanding, I just didn't understand it. 🙂
We don't bother, I put slime in my tyres and tried to work out who a digital air gauge works(still unsuccessful so now assuming its broken) while she watched some crap on the TV.
Rather invest time and money celebrating wedding anniversary
Cooked a nice meal, bottle of wine, early night. Don't buy in to the big romantic gestures, like a dozen red roses, card etc. Don't see the point.
on monday my missus had her 12-wk scan
nice one. we're at 16 weeks today.!!!
meh, she didnt even eat the 5 nearly out of date cadburys creme eggs i bought her from the 99p shop.
And they say romance is dead?
Shit.
Started off badly with my wife not having time or inclination to open the card I had made for her. Got worse when my attempt at nice food was rejected with "I'm not hungry". She then got stuck into a bottle of wine and phoned her parents and sister and I sat like a lemon on my own in the lounge.
I ended up opening her card up for her and reading her what I had written. She didn't give much of a toss about it, so I ripped it up, stuffed it in her wine glass and went to walk the dogs. By the time I had got back, she was in bed.
She's still in a bad mood with me.
Happy days. Now really looking forward to AFG.
Great, Bottle of Old Pulteney some chocolates & then Mrs FH goes out to yoga and a drink with her mate, do a peaceful night in with a few snifters, bliss!
Twas good. The bf and I set the turbo up and did a new sufferfest dvd, sweated buckets (really must buy a fan) but felt great/strong. 🙂
lol @ motivforz
Broke my little toe.. Luckily I was only in A&E for 5 minutes, as I'd already straightened my toe!
So pretty shit day! Yes it ****ing hurts! 😉
Was it Valentine's day yesterday? I didn't notice.
Whisked awsy my GF in my campervan to a nearby lake (well i say lake, it's a reservoir south of bristol)
Cooked up some lovely cuisine, cracked open a bottle of wine, flowers and pulled a desert out of the fridge
She was pretty impressed 🙂
Great!
Got into work to find a pink parcel waiting on my desk ... Opened it to find a rather lovely new Gore pink and black cycling jersey and Gore mtb shorts. Fantastic! (Plus many thanks to the usual great service from minxgirl.com)
Rather than the media manufactured stereotype, I'd far rather buy what I want for Valentines Day than wait for some guy* to send me flowers 🙂
* fortunately current 'we're not really dating' guy has a similar view about Valentine's Day, plus by now he has already got me so many flowers I have run out of vases to put them in ...
DGOAB - great way to get sweaty with your OH on Valentine's Day!
willard I don't know you, but i know you deserve better.
Willard that sounds like something out of a Mike Leigh film 🙁 .
Makes me feel better about my lousy Valentine's Day on my own though.
Willard - that is shit, really shit.
🙁
For me - got home in time to sit with my little girls for 30 minutes then put them to bed with a book whilst my wife heated up a Chinese Banquet for four (from Sainsbury's) and then sat down at the dinner table for once and ate it all between the two of us then washed it down with half a bottle of red that she bought for me.
I bought her a card and some handmade cupcakes (that we ate after the Chinese).
Then fell into bed and fell asleep in the same motion.
I got dumped the day before having already given flowers and a necklace and booked the train tickets to London for a meal so mine was totally crap
pulled a desert out of the fridge
That's a good trick when you're at a lake.
I had low expectations, so wasn't disappointed.
Non-existant. I'm working from home, she's up working in Scotland. 5 minute catch up at 10.30 last night.
I got sweaty "the other way" just got back, need shower, I ming 😯
Nice evening with the gf, cooked, chatted...errr, some other stuff 😳
Willard that is poo, hope she apologises
Willard - I gather you won't bother making the effort again?
We're moving house this week. Initially We'd planned to go out and have poncey cocktails, but ended up nackered and mucky after all the packing.
So we collapsed on the sofa, had the chicken chasseur I'd had cooking in the slow cooker all day, washed down with some fizz. Then sat surrounded by boxes, while gawping unbelievably at My Big Fat Gypsy Wedding on 4
Twas actually very nice
pulled a desert out of the fridge
If that isn't already a euphemism for something, it should be! 😆
To be honest, there's a lot of bad air between the two of us right now, and it's not all her fault. She's also under a lot of emotional strain thanks to some other issues, which accounts for some of it.
It's not going to stop me trying though. I'm even going to tape the card back together at lunchtime in the hope that she notices and reads it herself (and takes in what I wrote).
You have to keep trying.
Still trying to work out what kind of desert would fit in a fridge...
Willard, Good on you dude, if you love her then its worth it.
I had a lovely night with my lady and our son (who was being naughty and not sleeping)
Pork steak, dauphinoise pots, pepper sauce and green veg, followed by home made coconut cookies...
severe lack of any nookie though... bloody decorators.
Didnt really go as planned, got home at 6:30, in curry house by 7:30, back at work by 8:30 until 3am this morning. She was fairly understanding given that dinner turned into a takeaway for one.
That said, after reading some of the above, especially Willard, I feel mine was a dramatic success...
severe lack of any nookie though... bloody decorators.
I thought you just put sheets down if the decorators are in?
Valentines day deserves more than that... 😉 the Hannabal Lector isn't a good look for me.
The Lady in Black, Dominoes Pizzas, Big Fat Gypsy Wedding + red wine, bed. Very conventional at chez-removed this year.
Willard and Edric64 - sorry to hear those tales of woe - hope your lots improve quicksmart.
Not bad. Watched the wife crawling around on the floor with an empty wine bottle in her hand screaming Adele lyrics at the cat.
Up for work at 6am so didn't get to see Mrs Lunge in the morning.
A day in meeting on the south coast so didn't get to speak to her, the last one finished at 5:30pm.
3 1/2 hour journey back to the midlands via. the Chinese takeaway so I didn't get home until 9pm and I was so tired I could barely keep my eyes open.
Had said takeaway on the sofa and passed out by 10pm.
Frankly, I've had better and we are going to have a "proper" day on Thursday as I am off work.
Thankfully Mrs Lunge is an understanding type.

You shouldn't laugh but...
😆
went over to the GF's (lives with her parents) and me and her + the parents sat down to a full 3 courses of M&S '2 for £20' gastro-genius.
Then came out the 'how well do you know your partner game'. Let's just say her mum shocked me to the point of going red. Very red. 😯

Aww Willard, really hope it works out for you.
Mine started off great - nice parcel delivered at lunchtime (new resto d/h project), spent the afternoon cleaning it up and then things went downhill (pun intended) very fast. Managed to cook a nice Valentines tea but spent the evening discovering crack after crack (no, that's not a euphemism 😥 ) and went to bed later in tears. Sorry papadirt 😥 (the man's a star xxx)
Poor Willard...
Mine was okay. Twenty mile cycle commute followed by a long, hot shower and me and MrsPJM snuggled up in bed to watch Sirens on 4 on Demand, sharing a box of expensive fudge that she'd bought me yesterday. 🙂
It would have been much better had grandma and the kids sodded off out for a few hours.
Double post. Nothing to see here...

How was the food?
I considered getting the deal, but decided to do it myself in the end.
I'm happy to say mine was at the upper end of my expectations.
The best desert to pull out of a fridge (freezer, preferably) would be the Gibson. Which as anybody knows is a martini made with a cocktail onion instead of an olive.
LOL @ Willard!!
That is like something out of a film.

To be fair, it was spot on! I think these kind of deals are they forward for the cash-strapped!
Woke up to find that missus appears to be not pregnant, went for a walk round Hanoi and found some possibly (probably) hooky North Face jackets for £25, bought some, drank a lot of Bia Hoi @ £0.12 a glass, ate some pho, then packed the wife off on a flight to Phu Quoc while I flew 18 hours back to the UK.
So a bit of a mix, really.
Well, the card is taped together again and on the kitchen table with a note, so we will see what happens when she gets home. if nothing else, it's got to be worth a shot.
Hopefully the dogs won't have made enough mess to put her into a bad mood before I get a chance to get home as well.
I had to go to work, so it was a bit rubbish. Made up for in the evening with a nice bout of turbo training. So I did get a good bout of grunting and sweating in.
Me and the Mrs had Valentine's day a bit early at the weekend as she is away this week.
pulled a desert out of the fridgeShe was pretty impressed
I would be too.
Not bad - I did enough not to get into trouble and the OH even seemed grateful. Really, what more could I ask for?!
Neither as jetlagged as the Ox, nor as fractured as willard's evening...
I was due to be sent to go along to the local Mothers' union to listen to a septuagenarian talk about a recent cycling tour he did, but was shattered when I got home.
Instead Mrs North and I spent the evening looking after our unwell baby daughter who has a chest and ear infection and kindly threw up on the fluffiest scatter cushion on the sofa.
Got a lovely card from Mrs North, though, even if she did have to cross out "anniversary" and replace it with "Valentine's Day" 😉
We didn't bother with cards, we tell each other how much we're in love a lot anyway so don't generally buy them nowadays . I took carlosjnr mk1 to taekwondo when she got home from world while she fed and got carlosjnr mk2 ready for bed.
Once the kids were asleep I made beef in a cream sauce and spinach tagliatelle and we shared a bottle of Hungarian red , we had some lemon brioche for pudd.
Then ran a nice hot bath for us both followed by a lovely massage and you can guess the rest!
Unfortunately had a big row with the Mrs so we cancelled nice dinner out ! As she wasn't talking to me, a mate came round to the 'Man Cave' and we sorted his bike and drank alot of beer........ so all in all pretty good night
Aye, wasn't bad, thanks for asking!
Got a lot of work done yesterday, finished about 7. Got home, had my dinner and chatted to a mate on Facebook before getting an early night.
I crashed my turbo trainer being a little too enthusiatic ( blame Pendulum)
Cooked Pork and Ginger stir fry .
Went to bed at 9ish , alone .
So pretty much the same as the last 15 years .

Are you sure you should be allowed out on the road?!
Wow, I had no idea this would get this many responses! I only started it so I could tell someone about my missus being pregnant.
Hope all's well for you Willard.
Morgs:
Then came out the 'how well do you know your partner game'
With your sort-of in-laws? Wow, that's brave...
mine was spent riding one of my loves - a bmx. And wishing i had someone to go home to. I f'ing hate being single
My GF's away just now, didn't receive the card and story I'd sent her, just about acknowledged my "Happy V Day" text and the fact I'd just booked us a weekend away.
Things best not talked about on this forum in front of the wood burner mid-morning, what more could a man or woman want?
Hmmm. Got to hers on Friday expecting a nice few days together over half term (she's a teacher), only to find out shed forgotten it and had made plans with her friend 🙁
Ended with her dumping me and heading back home Monday morning teary eyed.
I'm sad.
Its nice to see there is still happiness around and I'm sorry to hear about willard et al.
massive OTB's on commute - evening in extreme pain whilst leaking all over the house. wife patched up my elbow.
could have been better!
I had a decent one. Me and the missus don't really do valentines, so went out for my regular Tuesday night ride so all good.
Unfortunately, one of the lads had a nasty spill, got stopped by a tree mid-ride and dislocated his shoulder and tore the ligaments. It kind of spoiled his wifes valentines night when he got home and woke her to take him to casualty!!
Not much, but we were both on the same wavelength so that was ok - a card and a couple of quids worth of heart shaped sweet stuff (cakes from him, choccies from me) and otherwise a fairly normal Tuesday.
Rather nice. Went out with the kids for a meal last night which the Mrs enjoyed and heading away for a long weekend. She got me a coffee machine which I've been after for ages.

You have no idea!
Brilliant!
A lovely ride around Bakewell just the two of us. Ice had melted and plenty of hills to chase him up.
For once we didnt have an argument half way round.
Home to a boring 2-hour work conference call while MrLadyMTB washed the bikes (how good is that?)
A lovely bath and dinner.
I'm a very lucky Lady 😀
took an aquaintance out to a decent restaurant for some good food, wine & chat. Turns out shes fancied the pants off me for a year now is very keen to **** the living daylights out of me 8O. I kid you not, happy days 😀
I gave the mrs a Kit Kat Chunky
down mom's with all the family, . . . . dad passed away on valentines day last year 🙁
Ha, I thought mine went badly, but Willard takes that win.
Working away from home so though't we'd agreed to do somethign romantic last weekend, which morphed from a night out and ended up being a takeaway on saturday night followed by sunday dinner with her family, not exactly what I'd imagined. So we were going to do something nect weekend, only she sent me a card in the post (which arrived on the 15th) and refused to answer her phone on Tuesday night as I hadn't sent her a card (bear in mind at this point I'm still thinking we were going to do it all next weekend and don't have a card from her either).
Now feeling a bit mehhhhh, as last year I went for an 'it's the thought that counts' present which involved time/effort and was summerarlily(sp?) rejected as not being the right present. Now this year I went for the thow money at it option and apprently it's not the right present as I didn't put enough thought into it.
I can't win and just pissed off.
I'm in India, wife is in London.
Christmas present was barely acknowledged, certainly not reciprocated, so didn't bother with a card or anything this year.
Last spoke at the end of Jan, might see her in April, all in all, rather sub-optimal.
Does that trump Willard's fun and exciting evening?
Cheers, Rich
Ouch
Thanks for all the support and wishes of well.
Things have got a bit better since the last post, partly due to my cellotaping the card back together and leaving it with a note where she would see it. I think it made her think, and that led to a heart-to-heart talk last night, which led to us being friends again.
I'm now feeling really bad that things have got better with me, but worse for other people on here. Marky, TINAS, the rest of the fellow downers... I wish I could send you all some of the positive vibes that I've got back now. I amazed at what happens when you have a chance to take stock of what's gone wrong and make a decision to back down and talk about things. It seems that this tactic only works for my wife and I when we both decide to back down though. Too stubborn by half, both of us...
Got home to find the cuddly toys had been naughty and were hiding a card. A while later they were being naughty and hiding another one.
MrAdamW has got a romantic soul in there somewhere 😀
Oh and LadyAlexMTB: Send you-know-who round. My trek is minging and could do with a good wash!
@ Willard. Thanks for the thoughts. We were together 4 years and I was happily thinking life commitment. Turns out I was thinking wrong 🙁
Oh well, I'll be able to go on that bike tour with camping kit with a clear concience 🙂
Dinner in North Carolina with my boss and leadership team at a Fleming steakhouse. The median number of diners per table was definitely two. Card was left in the piano. Back home now and the Channel No. 5 has been a success.
wow @op great topic! Never read such an honest and heart warming/breaking thread on here.
All about what really matters 🙂
left home at 7am to get a train from Helsinki to Tampere. The journey was OK, but the project meeting was a complete waste of time being the only non-Finnish speaker there. That lasted about 8 hours until getting another train back sat next to the rudest finn i've met so far. Then got home about 6.30, girlfriend was happy until she started ranting about Greece and their situation. I said my 2pc and then we carried on arguing. Wonderful
And its still going....
Got a 6-hour drive tonight to the in-laws to finally see the missus as she's been away all week. Can't wait.
