I'm currently in our 'computer room' in the house rather than my dedicated office outside as I'm not heating that (effectively a double garage size room) just for me.
This means I'm using a tiny little 4Gb Lenovo Thinkcentre M53 that I've set up with an SSD running Linux Mint.
It's fast and does pretty much everything I need as a lot of my stuff is cloud based. One thing I've noticed, though, is how slow this forum loads in Chrome (my default browser). So I've installed Opera (which I'm very happy with on my phone) and it's ballistic!

Just shows how much Chrome is doing behind the scenes (although STW is probably the slowest site I've found so far).
Kinda loving Linux and Opera.

You could take a look at Brave, which is Chromium based. It's pretty quick for me, and you can use most of your old add-ons.

No problems on Firefox, nice and quick, use it both on desktop and mobile.

Only downside it it's a bit more awkward to share stuff on Whatsapp, compared to Chrome.

I often get timeouts trying to view the forum in Chrome on my (not Drac's) iPad.

I put it down to my slow broadband, but maybe it's Chrome. I'll try a different browser.

I've changed to Firefox at work as Chrome seems really slow at the moment. I'm trying Opera at home and on the phone and so far that's working well.

I have stopped using Chrome. I have been using Firefox too but that 'hangs' quite a bit on most of the sites I use.

I have been using Edge which I have always avoided but it seems to work very well (at the moment).

The only time I ever use Chrome is on my Mac Mini, and only because there are still some sites that use Flash, and Chrome runs that natively, but that need is becoming increasingly rare. On mobile I use Safari, Firefox, Brave and DuckDuckGo, with search set as DuckDuckGo on all the browsers. Can’t say that STW is particularly slow, I’ve had all sorts of different sites just hang and refuse to load, but that may be because of the search and browser combinations, plus I use a VPN as well.

Get Drac to send you his iPad?

Even in Safari this site slows everything down, before the "flash" then page refresh.

It's like it opens, has a look around, things "erm.. not sure how to load all these ads, oh hang on this bloke has a P so that means ..e rm... what does it mean again?" then goes back to the STW server and repeats twice.

Can't fault opera personally, that's what I use on mobile.

I use Firefox with a bunch of privacy add ons on desktop /laptops.

It's all the adds and background tracking that ruin the Web browsing experience.

That's basically why chrome is terrible, it's basically a data mining app that let's you browse the Internet.

Chrome really is rubbish.
Opera or Vivaldi.
