at work near Winchester . Been snowing constantly since 0730 , sometimes it gets lighter , then comes in again heavier.
somewhere between 2" and 3" but as its a gusty wind its getting blown about alot .
About to head home but the roads are all ****ed .
So , do I whack on the chains and use the backroads, or sit in the traffic jams on my usual route . hmmm , tricky .
Walk home
By Surrey standards, this is becoming a dump.
Brought the sledge in from the garden so it'll be dry for tomorrow.
Brecon Beacons look pretty average, about 6". Wind is more of an issue, pushed through the drifts in the Land Rovers to our yard below Storey Arms, but come home before they get too big to push through. Drifts were about 3-4 foot on our lane.
Oh bum. Wife's work have just called to say the conference is postponed until next weekend and I'm due to be away.
Wife is very disappointed, she was convinced she was going to get at least 6" on Sat night.
3" settled in S Hills now. Dne the dog walk and looking forward to a snowy ride later!!! Met Office have been ok with the weather (if not climate ) and as predicted its heaviest now so far today.
"looks out of window"
"checks trains on webby"

It is snowing here in snowy Surrey (Kingswood/Tattenham Cnr area) but it's light fluffy and only just about sticking.
"looks around office again to see people packing up"

Gatwick area's had almost 2 inches, and it's getting heavier now.

Lol I was just going to quote that same line ๐
Getting nothing up in Saddleworth. Infact we had more on Monday when there was clear blue skies yet it still came down.
Typical, the worst place in the country for crap weather escapes
7cm now in my garden, Surrey Hills. No sign of it stopping.
Nowt up here in Falkirk, in fact its lovely and sunny! cold though
Well I was right the press got it wrong for us, they said 2" today and I laughed at them.
So far we have going on 4, took the dog out on his invisible bike.

There's nearly an inch and a half of snow in Leamington, all of the shops are closing early. SNOW! SNOWMAGGEDDON!
Nowt all day here near Consett, just the left overs of earlier in the week. Lovely, sunny & cold.
Roads still very iced up (Lincolnshire Wolds). No problem ice tyres on my bike get to pub easy.
Electric off couple weeks back for 18 hours+, No problem wood burner and I got 54 pound compo which they sent twice!! Brilliant in fact. WATER OFF not happy
Gatwick area's... no chance
Disturbing; why not? The airport is operating, as is the motorway network.
Not much in brum, about 4 inches. Enough to stop BMW's, mind.
Trains cancelled in KIngswood to Lonbon Bridge if that helps anyone, I've just taxied it to East Croydon ๐
This is like our own 9-11. I feel I can look Americans in the face now.
IT BEGINS! I hereby declare Edinburgh shut, I can see at least 2 snowflakes out the window.
Had an excellent conversation with my mum... "So, I'll be driving through to Glasgow on friday night when the snow's on, but it'll be fine I'm sure" "Yeah it'll be fine", she says. "Oh and I'm taking little brother too", I says. "Oh no, don't go driving in the snow!" she says.
Either little brother is more valued than I am, or she's comfortable with losing 1/3d of a generation at a stroke but not 2/3ds. Either way it's a bit of a blow.
Just back from the bike show. The main roads in London are all clear - just a bit wet and murky. The usual tomfoolery is going on - people driving at 20mph in the outside lane of the north circ etc.
A steady snowfall is going on, about 2-3 inches settling in the garden.
Hardly an apocolypse.
It's now stopped snowing in Bath, to my shame I'm one of the few who couldn't get to work today. in fairness, I drive the furthes and it's over / around the Mendips so not an easy route, however I couldn't get my car out the road.
*hangs head*
sunny here in Orkney. Blowing a hoolie and baltic though.
Nowt really in central Manchester thus far. A dusting overnight and light snowfall this morning but that's been it. Our wee lad will be disappointed, he's been hyper about the snow all week. Have to look for sledging a bit further afield tomorrow.
Warming up with soup and sandwiches in Shiney Town.
About to go into Waitrose for glutton free/wheat free/yeast free bread...
"wonders if they'll have any left"
"Starts to consider leaving the Uk"
Quite a lot in Alnwick today 4 - 5 inches and still snowing a bit Harry Potters Castle is really quite scenic
Garry Lager - there will be snow around the Macc/Buxton area. I too was hoping to take our nephew out sledging, maybe we can if it keeps going all night
It's snowed all day here and only put down a miserly 1cm, this on top of Tuesday's 1cm = 2cm.
We were forecast 15cm
Blowing a hoolie and baltic though.
in orkney? never!!!! ๐
oh bo11ox
Yup good covering today in Alnwick and looks set for the night.

I bet the golferists are well chuffed with that!
They're not bothered it's a tradition.
All of 5mm in Cambridge and it's given up for the night as well ๐
Very disappointed.
Still plenty coming down in Hucknall, settling on the main roads.
Only passed one Mercedes on the way home stuck trying to get up Shoulder of Mutton Hill.
Loads of bread in left Tamworth Morison's.
Used our old petrol 306 today as compared to my big diesel the brakes are non-existent and the engine is so knackered it couldn't pull the skin off a rice pudding and it's fitted with a fantastic set of winter tyres. Just what you need in this weather and you can still have a bit of fun on fresh snow at safe speeds ๐
Had to dodge a guy driving the wrong way down a dual carriageway today in Bristol. I'm not even sure what happened to him as he didn't have any hazard lights on and the road was pretty clear so I don't see how he has done a 180. Was then amazed that another guy decided to tailgate me down a hill in traffic from the Airport - driving so close I couldn't see his numberplate in my rear view mirror.
Just in from a completely gratuitous drive around in the snow. Bloomin brilliant. Snowproxes are a bit counterproductive for handbrake turns though
Some truly gigantic snowmen being assembled.
