Listening to catch up radio shows on our cheapo dock is a painful experience. Noise comes out but it is either really muffled or terribly tinny.
Would I be better off plugging my my through a 3.5 socket to a proper amp.
A first thing on ebay is this.

Happy to spend £70 is there a clear winner out there?

The LEPY 2024A is small, cheap (<£25) and good.

We use one with some old speakers in the kitchen. Good speakers and amps in the living room and office, but the LEPY 2024a is fine for general listening.

What speakers are you going to connect the amplifier to?

Would it not be easier to just replace the dock itself with a better one?

The dock is fine with an ipod on it. It's just when listening on the I player it lacks any oomph.
