So whilst I’m not sticking up for the antics in football, people in glass houses etc!

And micing up the Rugby Ref's just showed how the respect really works with the chirpy responses...

FIFA could have fixed this issue or at least gone around the teams at the start with a nice video reel

I'm pretty sure a powerpoint presentation would solve the issue once and for all. 😆

anyway as for interrupting the flow of the game

Naymar has spent 14mins in his 4 games so far rolling around on the floor

I think the universally agreed opinion is that neymar is a bawbag.

Yep and in the time spent rolling around VAR could easily have told the Ref's it was nothing and book/warn the player for blatant simulation, no interruption to the flow of the fame and it should actually speed it up a bit

The ref needs to go an watch it and all that flaff if he's going to review a decision, he can't just take the VAR teams word for it, Ref has final decision, so has to see an incident to reverse it/rule on it. So aye, still flaff you canny have it for everything.

You'd be adding 30 minutes extra time to every game.

Nope you just adopt the rules everyone else uses for video assist where they off field gives the decision and communicates it. Football in it's desire to never change has half implemented something and not picked the best parts of it.

If you asked most fans if they would want diving and simulation kicked out of the game they would say yes. a word to the ref as somebody clutches their head after having their foot trodden on followed by a yellow card would help things. We could also show them as replays on a big screen with a helpful comment at the end

just don’t expect anyone, apart from DezB to take you serious.

He watches so much, he talks like a pundit 😀

As for saying someone posting an article about the World Cup in the World Cup thread is trolling. That's quite thick, isn't it.

😀 definitely.

Although, I think you'll find it isn't trolling.

I'm gonna miss the bloody game Saturday too! Got tickets to a gig thing in London - bought ages ago... I'm sure they'll keep us informed 🙂

The opposition team should be given immunity against persistent simulators and any on-the-ball fouls on them should go unpunished.

I'd quite like it if when a player clearly goes down claiming some sort of fatal wound (twisted leg hair, mildly bumped buttock, etc.) instead of racing up to jostle and shout, they just stood back and laughed out loud at the daftness. How long would Neymar have rolled for if he'd had 6 Mexicans guffawing at him. Pointing as well if needs be.

I've see a couple of very bad injuries on a football pitch. I can tell you one thing - when your leg is only held on by the fleshy bits because you just bust both bones in your shin you don't roll around. You lie VERY STILL INDEED.

now who's trolling....

Just examples of good solid video ref solutions which make the game better.

How about a blue card situation where matches are analyzed and you are awarded a blue card after the match if you are caught acting like a 3 year old.

3 blue equals a yellow.

tbh var in fitba will develop over time, so again don't really see the need to rush into it. Largely it's been accepted by everyone in it's current form, that's a good thing, if they had radically changed it, you'd have had a lot more resistance I think.

I guess there also should be a consideration for where it's to be used, it is just in high profile games, or is it something we want to see implemented across the board? If the latter that will probably need looked at as I doubt it's a particularly cheap system to run.

ah I see the problem this is a thread about Football.... no wonder there is confusion is Fitba the slower less skilled game they play north of the border?

Are we not allowed to suggest how we think VAR could be used better as we have a team watching every second of the game anyway?

Discuss what you like, but comments like there's a cloud hanging over the world cup are laughable.

Why do you have it so in for scottish fitba? Are you only able to enjoy the game when it's played above a certain level? Half the shit in the EPL must disgust you then, eh?

You must take a right riddy when we beat or draw with english teams then eh? 😆

Anyone skiving off early to watch France v Uruguay tomorrow then?

Should be an absolute belter.  I think my heart rate has just about returned to normal after the penalty shoot out the other night

I'm hoping for Suarez to bite a chunk our of Giroud and a mass brawl to break out, loads of sending offs. 5 all at full time, extra time and penalties

Not really, but it seems thats about the only thing that hasn't happened at this world cup 😀

Nowt really, just looks ridiculous when you write dialect down.

I think you will find plenty of people who do have the opinion that as good as it's been in the WC several players and teams have really let themselves and football down here.

We will have it on in the office though I'm considering having the day off anyway to try and get a ride in, WC DH on at the weekend too to fit in.

Tomorrow afternoon I shall be driving to North Wales for a weekend of mountain biking (stag do with Scottish people & English people who have no interest in football) so will be unable to watch any of the quarter finals.

I just hope that England make it to the semi's so that I can actually watch a game with the missus. The only one we've been able to watch so far was Tunisia. Since then we've been apart.

My overnight resting heart rate was approx 10bmp higher than normal (possible partially helped by the beer) and I still felt agitated the next day 🙂

I said you posted an article about the World Cup. I responded saying I disagreed with you, and agreed with the sentiment of the article with regard to diving and screaming at the ref. Who said you were trolling? It certainly wasn't me. I made no such accusation.

My comments regarding my beliefs on top level football are not based on a dislike of the sport. I used to follow it avidly when I was younger, and enjoyed playing it until snapping a tendon 8 years ago. I have never called it wendyball and have no history of watching 'egg chasing.'

I know it wasn't you.. not sure why you thought that. I'm not going back to check who it was though!

trolling just seems to mean 'having a different opinion' lately anyway!

I will be trying to get back for the France / Uruguay game ...

We have cancelled our planned Bowerdale Bash ride in the Lakes in  favour of early local rides finishing at midday so we can watch the England match ..but having just been for a ride up at Kielder ..if the humidity is anything like it was this afternoon I might just skip it altogether ..it was tough .

England 2 - 0 Sweden

England 2 - 0 Sweden

England 2 - 0 Sweden

Does that count as bad luck if I say it three times?   😀

As for Brazil, "You shall not pass" beyond next round.  😀

Yep. I'm Skiving off early...as it's F.O.E.F. 🙂

A quickish cycle ride first ( remember those? 😉 ) & then I may have to call in a favour for school pick up today . Come on Uruguay.

As for tomorrow , my money is on Loftus Cheek replacing Ali again...Are Trippier & Walker fit after their knocks?

Yeah, I’ll be watching the game today. Think France will dominate, but Uraguay ain’t gonna roll over!  Hopefully they won’t resort to Colombia’s tactics.

Predictions:

Fra - 1 Urg - 0

I reckon it’ll be too defensive a game, but France will score second half mid way through and the impetus will have wilted by then.

To continue my off kilter predictions, I think Uruguay 0 - France 0, don't think the team will respond to the South American dark arts. but will win on pens

& Brazil - 2 Belgium 1

Then the big ones tomorrow - Eng 1 - Sweden 0 (AET)

& Russia 0 - Croatia 2

Interesting game eh, Uruguay well organised and as wide as a bag of monkeys, will/can France step it up a gear? finely balanced.
