If i only subscribed to say, variety pack and news pack then pay £10 for the HD pack would I be able to view those HD channels that aren'r premium ones such as Sky Arts HD or would IU also need to subscribe to the Lifestyle pack?

AFAIK you can only watch the so-called HD versions of chanels that are in your pack - other than BBC, CH4 and ITV.

Incase anyone wondered, I now have Sky HD - I'm not subscribed to the 'lifestyle' channels package but I still get the HD version of Sky Arts even though I dont get the standard one - so looks like with the HD pack you get all the HD channels whatever you subscribe to with the exception of the premium sports and movies:)
