Yo,

Got a load of photos that need to go into a powerpoint and then a PDF file.

anyone know a decent programme that is pretty simple to use?

When I say shrink I mean rather than 2300 x 3000 pixels, to 800 x 900 for example. Or doesn't it work like that? 'scuse my ignorance!

danke

Paint.net is good.

I'd be looking for something that did batch conversions though.

There's a good windows power toy called image resizer or something like that. Just right click on the file, or selection of files, choose a size and away it goes. Very fast as you don't even need to open them.

I think powerpoint also has a button somewhere that will downsize the photos once they're in the presentation.

Basically you resize the fullsize images and it chucks away all the unnecessary data. Not the best way to do it, but might be the easiest.

I always resize as it resticts what can be done by those little tykes who think that stealing photos is acceptable, useful if you're publishing your work.
I am slightly worried that you feel you need batch processing for a PowerPoint application. 😐

Just done a quick run on Faststone, works very well. Easy enough, and plenty of other features too. Cheers

Don, I understand. I'm not a publishing position, this is some work for University. Got a page limit for a project, said project requires lots of photos, etc. So I'm bit limited on the A3 size.

Faststone will thankfully speed up said project. 8)

Google Picassa has it built in and a nice batch facility to do all of them at once. Highly recommended.

Don't bother resizing. Just put them in as is, move them about and crop, then once you are finished you can shrink them all down in one go. Much easier and you will get the optimum size shrinking. Instructions are here (for example) - http://www.addictivetips.com/windows-tips/powerpoint-2010-compress-pictures-to-reduce-size-of-presentation/

The use File/SaveAs to create the pdf
