It isn't an obvious plate so most people won't notice. Those that do will be mountain bikers and either smile or think you are a knob.

I nearly bought a plate for the bike once. £300! Madness, what was I thinking? (the stupidest bit is, I only backed out because I was planning to bore the engine out and it'd have made the numbers wrong)

Ordinarily, given the cost I'd say personalised plates = more money than sense; however, for €20 it falls into "why wouldn't you" territory.
at €20 shed loads of people just get their initials (certainly a very significant portion at work)
MTB xxxx will be meaningless to most. Suspect more Germans would ponder if the car owners initials were TB, than think the owner is a mountainbiker.

Bit of a coincidence, but it was my birthday yesterday and as a present I got ‘P100 MTB’ to put on my van. I realise not many people will understand it, but I quite like it!

I think the point of the more obscure ones is to hide the year of the car. Either when new to disguise that you've just spent a shit load money or when old to disguise that you are driving around in an old motor.
Crazy I know but it does make people feel more comfortable driving a car for longer rather than felling like that have to change just because of the number plate.
Having our number plates highlight the year the car was new is a marketing masterstroke by the car industry.
Good thing about personalised plates is you cannot tell how old the car is. Get it.

i think the UK is one of the few places that carry the year on the number plate. i think just about everywhere in Europe uses either letters or numbers to denote the place where the motor is registered.
i know of a few people that either have their initials or company initials on their plates, and since there is no manipulation of the font you can't try and turn 4s into Hs or such like.
