Short term new driver insurance

Eldest (23) has finally passed his driving test. He would like to use our car (mini) but needs some short term insurance - ideally pay monthly as he's planning to go travelling soon so doesn't need the full year.

Any recommendations for short term insurance provider?

Thanks

Add him as a temporary driver to the insurance you already have? Or, if not long left before renewal, just add him as normal?

+1

And for all those new drivers out there - Admiral allow any named drivers to earn NCB (including as learner...) if they add a policy to multicar.

Eldest_oab van at age 20 and first vehicle =£1700-£2100 elsewhere.
Admiral gave him two full years NCB and a discount as it is under multicover = £740.
Well worth it if you have a few offspring to help them into insurance.

cheers Matt, unfortunately just moved from Admiral as they stung us at renewal time

We used Veygo whilst my son was learning. They can add bolt on cover but it does cost quite a bit once you've passed your test.

Ooft, a shame.
We are on 4th year with them, which is very unusual for us to stay with company, and renewals so far have all been falling a little each year.

Another vote for Veygo (Part of Admiral iirc)...dead easy to do and is great for doing the odd hour/day/week/month. We used it when my son was learning and after he passed for short periods when back from uni. Just started using it again for our daughter who's learning.
