We produce about 1% of global CO2 emissions and falling, so whether we like it or not we cannot be part of the solution by ourselves. We can do our part of course, and should, and we are, but we're not going to influence global climate change...we couldn't even measure our contribution.
We are quite rich overall and we import a hell of a lot of stuff from other countries, which means that their carbon emissions are on our sooty hands.
You're not thinking of the bigger picture. It is the poorer countries that polute the most. When you're poor then stuff like food and not starving are much higher on your daily priorities than climate change. The best way we can reduce global pollution and CO2 emissions is to help poorer countries develop and become richer. As soon as countries come out of poverty and individuals become richer then people start caring about the environment and their governments clean up their act. This is a well proven and understood mechanism. So by providing a global market for these countries to sell their wares around the globe we are ultimately contributing to the clean up of the global industry. The environmental cost of moving stuff around the globe is less than the cost of producing the stuffing the first place...we need to clean up both but getting people out of poverty and richer is a big part of the solution to climate change and most other global issues. Global capitalism and global trade is the only mechanism discovered by man that has been successful in pulling countries out of poverty and well into the middle classes in a very short space of time. No other mechanism has been even successful.
If countries like the UK suddenly take global trade away from developing nations then that will be bad for the environment, climate change, global poverty, population growth (the richer people become the fewer kids they have) and all the other global issues we like to talk a good game about solving but get entrenched so much in our own internal politics and in fighting to actually gather round a common strategy or vision to actually do anything about it.
The best way we can reduce global pollution and CO2 emissions is to help poorer countries develop and become richer.
I agree with your post more generally... but at the moment, more rich people means more C02. Rich countries, and especially the rich people in them, need to change their own behaviour and demands rather than acting as if it's all the "fault" of less well off countries, and especially the least well off in those countries.
Cant see Kelvins banner, hes been censored by the deep state
It's proof, if any was needed, that Hindus are Nazis
It’s proof that being competent at Photoshop is more tricky than you’d imagine..
Rather like those protests themselves I have no idea what this thread is about…!
I’m predicting that now Brexit and Trump have been (respectively) ‘won’ and ‘watch this space’, and if herd immunity to Covid is achieved, then this groundswell of anti-lockdown/Covid skeptics will of course switch their protests and marches to fighting against climate change measures and their associated ‘great reset/the elite’ conspiracy - because this is (to their minds) a battle/culture war that potentially has no ‘end’. To their minds fighting against the ‘lie’ of AGW is a fight for freedom fro. They see themselves as Luke Skywalker against Darth Globalist. Realists vs The Woke. Plucky Brits vs The Elite. Etc.

Either that banner or one very similar to it (including the Swastika) is actually in one of the videos linked above.
Ah just found is, it’s a Swastika inside a virus with the words “The Boris Variant” and appears to be the very same banner.
is actually in one of the videos linked above
Yup, I just screen grabbed it from this page. What point is it trying to make?
That Nazis and Boris are working in Tandem to control us with a pandemic.

Anyone that could photoshop that should really be working in big budget movies

That Johnson is using Nazi-style propaganda and lying about ‘variants’? Just a guess. The fact that so many people think that this government have been anything other than shambolic and ineffective regarding timely and effective social restrictions/lockdowns is way beyond my simple mind.
I found this from a couple of weeks ago, it conflicts with the view that last weekend’s anti-lockdown protesters were tag-alongs
Actor and activist Fox, 43, warned that the demonstration was minor compared with what was being lined up for June 26. Filming his protest throughout the afternoon he said the demonstration was “the small one…
He added: “This is the small one Boris. Still pretty big though…
He tweeted during the protest: “To everyone who has followed every rule, worn the masks, home schooled their kids, lost their businesses, been responsible in every way to help us all get out of this mess, who found today’s announcement to be a massive kick in the teeth. Come and be heard on the 26th in London.””.
Anything that contains Laurence fox is immediately regarded as total bunkum.
That man is on a level with farage in the needs a reality check stakes.
Thoughoally Hateful chap

Indeed. Except for the numbers. And the results. Etc. See Brexit.
Ever noticed they never seem to have these conspiracist/rabble-rousing ****ers (and many like them) and their shite up against any interviewer with credentials? Think you’ll ever see him interviewed by someone with any knowledge of the pandemic? They operate surrounded by sycophants. The BBC coddled Farage like a babe in arms yet his fans think the Beeb to be a nest of ‘traitors’ . It’s like reverso-world.
Time was when an interviewer by the name of Andrew Neil might have held someone like F*x to account. Now it seems they’re instead sharing a bed, as it were. This anti’woke’/anti-vax/anti-immigrant/anti-climate action/anti-EU, gravytrain is a fast-growing business which may appear marginal on the mainstream news yet the numbers IMO are cause for concern.
Fox was on GB news a couple of weeks ago, had a half hour slot with that Wootton fella. There's going to be a million people on the streets on the 26th apparently. He wasn't held to account, quite the opposite.
against the fight against climate change?
Anyone on the ground seen what’s going on? Am I losing my mind?
I bet if someone just start playing loud techno music they will all start dancing, those protesters are very prone to music with loud beat and bass. Someone got to try it.
Not sure what they are protesting but a few delta variant is all they need ... and the longer lockdown we are going to have.

How ever the popular loud shouty vote is rarely the "technically correct" vote.
And heaven knows he does alot of loud shouting.
Remind me -how did his campaign for office go ?
