Part 3 was indeed bull squat.
But part 1 & 2 i think are really one movie separated for commercial success. You cant watch one without the other. So ultimately are equal in levels of class. Movie magic, gripping from the start, perfect cinematography, music and story line.
Probably the best films ever made.

Alien and Aliens are just different films. First one's more suspense, second one's more of an all out actioner. Although all the great visual stuff originated in the first film.

2nd film cliche after cliche, action man soldiers lost kid corporate greed, all 2d characters that never became anyone. Not directed by Ridley Scott.
Watched the trilogy recently after the Alien is descended into farce and humour stepping through the motions.

don't bother with ep1 the phantom menace. it doesn't add anything.

It's a law really sequels are always worse than the original as proof I give you Police Academy a poor film followed by endless sequels none of them up to the low standards of the first one 🙂
