If there's someone in your whatsap group who's gone quite, or you know are having a bit of a tough time drop them a text and check in, them going quiet is probably the key bit.
We knew someone in our old uni friends group was struggling a bit but being scattered across the UK we all assumed someone else was helping on a 1:1 basis, turns out no one was, and now he's not here anymore, happened very recently.
Sling them a text, check in a plan some beers in the near future or something.
