A very dead car resides in my shed. It belongs to my son who wishes to sell it. Local guy (farm up the road) deals in scrap, wants it.

New V5 is £25 from DVLA, guy is offering £80.00 for the car. I don't know if he wants the docs, I'll ask when he arrives.

Car is currently SORNed, has been for almost a decade.

No docs can be found. WWSTW do?

Have you spoken to the DVLA they can be pretty helpful?

I tried to tax my previous Sorned car online but I could only find the old V5 not the newer version.

Spoke to the DVLA and they sorted the tax out and sent me a new V5 for free.

I scrapped one recently with no v5, I let the dvla know by letter and they were fine. Make sure you get the scrappers address and details and it should be ok.

Yay, problem solved. V5 found by Mrs A, in the least obvious place. The drawer in the dresser that all the old pairs of specs are kept in. Obvious really I suppose...

Make sure that the scrappers are a properly licenced site with the EA and DVLA  (you can check on gov.uk) rather than some dodgy guy up the road. You should receive a certificate of destruction if registered with DVLA and the EA permit will mean that they won’t be pouring the oil and other crap down the drains or into a river.
