Time to renew the passport again and I was wondering if I still need to find a photo booth or can I just take one at home? I know there was a facility to load it up on the government website but that has since been taken away. Anyone know an alternative to the photo booth?
I thought you could do it digitally these days and upload it. Last one I did I took a selfie then printed it at the local print shot (also at boots). I put 8 shots on a 6x4 then carefully cut it out. There templates online
Timpsons or camera shops usually do them.
Are you sure? I think we had a thread about this last year, someone was trying to renew using the old online service which requires you to post a physical photo. The new online service (which is still in beta) lets you do everything online. Try googling again to find the new system.
We did it recently (couple of months ago) online by uploading photos taken on a phone. Worked perfectly. You just need to follow a few rules (plain background, no shadows etc).
Last one I renewed, I think they used the pic from my last driving licence photocard renewal
I did mine on a mobile phone with a magnolia wall in the background - not a selfie though, someone else took it. Don't worry about the exact framing as you can just crop it afterwards. Worked a treat for my passport, and it's now made it's way across to my driving licence as well.
Did it all on line November last year, it said not to do a selfie, but as they came out better than with someone else taking it I tried that.
Send off old passport and new one arrived a few weeks later, seemless 🙂
As aome of the above, got the wife to use my phone then uploaded the pic. Really quick less than 10 days if I remember.
Yep have tried googling on the passport site and cannot find where to upload a digital photo.
