I've grabbed a couple of FatBoy bean bags that my BIL was throwing out because they had a couple of small holes and the beads were coming out.
What I'm planning on doing is making another bag to put the beads in (which I would have thought FatBoy should have done in the first place) so I can repair the holes from the inside and wash the outers.
There's loads of nylon fabric on eBay but what weight should I get.... Don't want to buy something too heavy or light!

I've always used cotton or polyester cotton - old sheets are good. As for nylon, I reckon 2oz or slightly lighter would be suitable.

I personally would buy upholstery weight fabric, don't let this put you off as they are less weight than several years ago.
It will last longer and wear better.

Yes I am a professional seamstress 🙂

If you want nylon stuff, a local market is always good, just go to the haberdashery stall.

We have a big bertha bean bag and the cat lives on it, she utterly loves the thing. Not a single tear or anything in it so if you can find out the weight they use then I'd say that'd last you a good while.

This is just for a liner, isn't it? And then you'll put it INSIDE the washed and repaired original cover? So that means you need a lightweight fabric for the liner 🙄

With a bit more thought, I would definitely recommend cotton, rather than nylon. You'll soon find out why, when you try to transfer the "beans" and the little beggars are jumping all over the place. Best to attempt this in the bath, by the way.

Also, there'll be less chance of a static shock when you sit down 😀

Time to actually get this done. The bean bags are 60" x 48" internally, will 60" wide cloth be OK for the longer side or should I use the 60" width for the 48" side just to be safe, and will muslin be OK for a liner bag or too loosely woven?

Edit: just found some calico which is 63" wide.... would this be OK?

Calico comes in different thicknesses so, a light weight one would be o.k. In which case it doesn't matter which way round you cut/make it up.
