Do they display more info or display anything in a better way than the smaller screened ones?
The smaller ones look more handy to carry/store.
Looking at TomTom and Garmin. Not had a satnav before, so any other useful advice welcomed too.
For the extra tenner or so, it's worth it. Screen is easier to read, less congested IMO.
Go with a Garmin too. So easy to use you won't need instructions and the back up is superb.
I've never understood widescreen Satnavs, they show you more, but they show you more of what is left and right of you. You want to see more of what's ahead of you 95% of the time don't you?
Now widescreen + Portrait I understand. I use TomTom on my phone and have gone from a Touch Pro2 to a Touch HD2 and the difference is that for the same 'size' of everything onscreen I can zoom out 3 clicks and see a lot further ahead.
So the same image is just enlarged, rather than the info being re-arranged or there being additional info on the display?
I got one of these, it's a very good offer indeed -

There's other info on the screen, the widescreen leaves more space for the mapping IMO. No matter though, with that offer above, you'd have to be crazy to pay more, and get less, anywhere else. 🙂
garmin and tomtom always used to be best - i think you'd be happy with either.
I used to test them but haven't played with the newest models (maybe 2 years now!!)
my money would always go with garmin.
Any comments about updating maps? I am trying to keep the costs low, so will be looking at the lower end products/update options.
