My folks have freesat connected to an old sky dish in the main living room, now they want to have the same set up in another room.

I remember seeing a satellite kit in B&Q sometime ago....

They have a spare freesat box, so I am guessing that a dual or second receiver will be required for the dish?

Can someone advise me please? 🙂

Have a look at the existing dish where the cable comes out. If there are more screw threaded ports next to the cable then all you have to do is hookup another cable.

Otherwise you can replace the existing dish with one with multiple outputs (or just add an additional dish).

They're easy to fit. Various tutorials on youtube.

New dish time...

£15 gets you a satellite detector so all you do is bolt the new dish to the wall, plug the detector in and wiggle the dish until it beeps. Running the cables to the receiver is the [potentially] big job.

Can't you just get a new LNB or whatever they're called for the existing dish?

That's what I was thinking....just youtubed it and it says something about a Quad LNB?

If it can be done without replacing the dish all the better.... 😉

If the plastic holding the lnb (bit that the cable fixes to on the dish) hasn't perished then fit a dual lnb off ebay for a few quid and run the second cable. If you don't move the dish you won't need a sat beeper.

Edit: you won't need a quad lnb unless you are recording stuff.
