Thinking of going in to N Wales on Monday for a run.
So far thinking Aran Fawd as its only about 45 mins drive from my house. Or possibly Glyder Fawr from Capel Curig, bit further to drive and more chance of seeing people!
Any other recommendations?
Thanks
How about Moel Siabod from Pont Cyfyng?
2nd above would suggest Nanttle ridge as a brilliant run and suspect the Berwyns are quieter than other locations but all a bit more distant
Thanks for the recommendations my original post should have said Aran Fawddwy.
Moel is a hill I’ve always looked at and wondered about.
Nanttle ridge Looks very interesting, but looks to be more of a scramble with exposure?
Apologies yep some scrambling on Nanttle ridge on Y Garn broad rock steps...my memory says can avoid exposure but not scrambling on the next pointy bit top if want to but may be wrong...I was just remembering the brilliant views of Snowdon on the easy bits....enjoy your choice
Where are you coming from? I think you'd be fine on the Carneddau or Glyders, I wouldn't worry too much about being busy. I found Berwyns are a bit heavy going for running. There's loads of good stuff on the Clwyds and they're very runnable hills. Look up the Llantysilio race route or Moel y Gamelin route from the Horsehoe Pass. Chips for afters.
Moelwyn Bach, Moelwyn Mawr, Cnicht. Will all be very quiet. Cnicht has a nice ridge that points out towards beddgelert direction. Good views out over the sea and llyn peninsula
I hiked an biked the Nantlle Ridge few months back so no real issues to run it.Mynydd Drws y Coed ridge is slightly exposed but you can scramble away from the edge.Route i did was from Rhyd Ddu to Nebo. https://www.mudandroutes.com/routes/snowdonia-walks-across-the-nantlle-ridge-crib-nantlle-traverse/
There’s a loop on the Cnicht from Tanygrisau,up to Cwmorthin quarry down to Croesor,up Cnicht and over the top back to Cwmorthin.Top section from Cnicht to Cwmorthin is very wet and not always easy to follow the route,i hiked and biked this few months back and followed a gpx from a running friend. Alex Bond the hardline rider has some routes on his strava that might also give you some ideas.
