I don't know whether to expect zombies or splicers but either way, I'd have freaked out completely long before getting those photos. Fascinating stuff

Kinda creepy some of them. Almost like humans were just removed in an instant decades ago

There was an excellent BBC documentary about Detroit some time ago.

America does everything on a bigger scale, eh? Including urban decay. Might be interesting to contrast these images with pictures of Beijing or the new cities in China.

Lovely and scary all at once. Tragic to see something such as a theater (sic), which should be a source of joy looking like that.

IIRC, all those who could afford to moved out of Detroit in the '70s, meaning that the City couldn't gather the tax revenue from the people who worked there. As such, all the money was out of town, and those pics are the result.

Tragic, but somehow fascinating all at once.

and that it can decay that quickly....
IIRC that BBC doc actually ended with some hope, somehow...

It ended with some hippies who are re-colonising the city - farming in the ruins.

I've only got admiration for them, but it didn't really address the problems of social division and vested interests in America that had led to the city's decline.

Strange isn't it? It is awe-inspiring and beautiful in a way, but if the people still living in poverty in the city had been in the photos it would have been shocking and pitiable.

Reminds me of part of Koyaanisqatsi.
