Yep, any decent player would see a charging lump of a tackler and deliberately chuck his chin at it. Very clever way to milk a red card. 😂

Having watched the impact a few times, I cannot stop myself seeing Farrell notice the shoulder and aim for it.0

Righto 🙄

Ah, I’ll concede I’m talking shite.

Yes the commentary is total shite. When England were pressuring the line he’s banging on about what they’ll be talking about at half time. And when Youngs scored he’s more interested in bigging up his career than discussing the play.

1st time I've seen Ford look happy about scoring a try, usually looks embarrassed.

Another example of a red card just ruining what could have been a good contest.

Should be a permanent benching for the miscreant but a replacement allowed after 10 minutes.

I do not like the way the players are encouraging the ref to look at the tmo. Last thing the game needs.

Disagree re the red card. Take it away and where’s the punishment for foul play such as that? No one was saying that on here when Daly was red carded for taking the Argentina player in the air a few years ago.

Players know the rules.

I think the red was harsh but I can see why nige has given it. Manu should have had yellow for sure.

Agree that farell should be off for HIA though. If it's deemed bad enough to be a sending off then surely they should pull him for an assessment regardless?

Another great game spoiled by a card though England are looking good with the extra man.

Bring on Japan smashing Samoa!

Actually I said the same thing when Daly got sent off. And SBW against the Lions.

The fact is, the game's changing and you can get sent off for a lot more things nowadays. The Lavanini card was correct, under the laws but it ruined the spectacle.

Ice hockey gets it right as does Aussie Rules. Rugby is getting it wrong.

The barman has just complained about having to change the Guinness barrel at ten thirty in the morning.

Absolutely stupid tackle the red card was a good all, ruining the game is better than ruining someone’s health. The players know the rules he broke them he’s responsible.

Yet another game where we're talking more about the laws and less about the rugby.

England purposefully taking it easy? Playing very poorly. Incredibly boring spectacle.

Stonewall red I have no issue with it.

However this is an entertainment business and its ruined the entertainment. I would like to see it looked at again to see if something can be done . 20 mins then a replacement?

It does.  You'd never see the AB's doing this.  Self preservation, Subs or fitness?  Lets hope its the former.

Good finish by Nowell.

Yup W00dster they know they’ve got this so not pushing themselves nothing much to with Argentina losing a player.

No for a tackle like that TJ you lose a player or what is the point of issuing a red card.

I know the Farrell hate is strong from lurking on this thread but does anyone think his usually very good kicking was affected by being belted in the head?

I imagine most English would have taken that result before the game?
Without wanting to be negative, Farrell and Ford combination doesn’t seem to work for me. Farrell isn’t really a centre.
Back play doesn’t appear to have fluidity to it with them in those positions.

Not sure it was. He missed all 4 kicks 2ft left, so suggests a little technical wrinkle. He stated as much post match.

Farrell is not that good a kicker. I am not surprised he missed some tho thats a particularly poor kicking performance

England are riding high in the table, but the red card stole their chance of really assessing where they are. They still appear to be lacking fluency, but maybe that again is in part due to playing against 14?

So Tj are you rooting for Samoa here? I’m torn. I’d like to see Japan show their tier 1 credentials and produce a performance on a par with their last against Ireland.

C’mon Japan.

I thought Farrell was largely poor today, one or two good bits but quite a few poor decisions as well. It may be due to the smack on his head of course.

England made a 30 point win a snooze fest. This next game should be more fun, Fitzpatrick in the studio, and manu Samoa do a great haka!

Not really seeing as he'd missed 2 from 2 prior to the incident. He made some kicks after so you could argue that the bang to his head improved his %.

The fact is he's not that great a kicker despite having some good games with the boot over the years.

Samoa playing well and Japan not showing quite the same form they did against Ireland. This could be a good match.

Neutral. I like to see smaller teams do well, I want to see the pacific islands teams do well, I want to see Japan gain parity with tier one teams but why is it always at scotlands expense!

Marginally Japan to win I guess even if thats bad news for scotland

Dreadful late tackle, don't know why players do it. They surely know it's going to be caught and then immediate yellow.

Shall we agree on Samoan exiles winning but without a bonus TJ.

I guess it’s because for a while now Scotland have been borderline tier 1/2 and some of the tier 2 teams can out perform them too often. Or at least run them close.

Going back to England arg match, did anyone else notice a bit of soccer-style face clutching on the ground after late or potentially dangerous tackles? This Beginning to creep into rugby is not the way we should be going...
Maybe that was why manu didn't see yellow

As much as you would like to see us out, it doesn’t change a thing. We will get the bonus against Russia then need to beat them by more than 7. Based on how we each played against Samoa, I am significantly more confident than I was 2 hours ago.

He started play acting before he’d even hit the floor.

Anyway, great result for Japan. The looked like they struggled a bit with the pressure to win and win well. They did if in the end though.

If we cannot beat Russia and Japan then we deserve to go out

I am not confident at all tho
