Judging by the game last week you also need Gav to do the basic 10 bits that Pisi seems to struggle with like kicking penalties into touch. Mind you Pisi should improve he got very tired last week.

Pisi is just back from injury, still had his hand strapped up. He was very good in super rugby so I have no doubt he can more than hold his own in the AP. We have recruited a bit, but we still lack depth in the backs. I'd be tempted to give the american 7's player Palamo a shout, we already know that mosses isn't up to it.

Pisi is just back from injury,

Yeah so he should improve. I suspect the plan was to take him off after 50 and shift Gav to 10 but it all went pear shaped.

Wasps v Tiggers wasavery enjoyable game. A little scrappy at times, but lots of action and Wasps securing a bonus point win with the last play of the play of the game.

Thanks for this insight. I'll inform Cementhead. So the Lions will need to be great at attacking out wide with pace, in close with pace, outwide with power, in close with power, defence in close and out wide, turnovers, ruck, maul, lineout, scrum....anything I missed?

No. That's pretty much it. 😉

Gatland was there so hopefully he's got it too.

The Pumas played with no fear and great ambition in the first half, relying on their basic skills. If it hadn't been for Sam Cane they might have had a lead after 40 - he was monumental.

THe only weakness of this ABs team is poor(ish) goal kicking. Going at them like the Argies did but for the whole 80, keeping the score close and having Halfpenny/Farrell knock over every kick while they miss a few might get you a win.

Thing is, they've got a 43 match winning streak at home. That's likely to still be intact by the time the Lions arrive. It's gonna take something special to beat them.

Scrum should be an area of advantage for the lions if the refs let us take advantage. When Wales played them in the summervit was plain to see a good varied attack and good simple rugby played well works against them. Wales, coached by Cementhead played some very good rugby. Liam Williams especially gave them problems. The midfield of Crotty and the other bloke, are not anything great. They played Naholo and Savea on the wings in the furst test and both their defences are not great they fixed this by picking Dagg and Smith at 14 and 15.

Absolute shocker in the Brive game earlier.

Seems it was a pretty nasty game all round.

All good points except I think Crotty is actually a very handy player and he seems to glue the midfield together pretty well. Besides, SBW will be back and they have Milner-Skudder to return as well.

Wales did play some great rugby at times and the Lions need to build on that, with a more powerful pack and a better bench it could be interesting.

Still, the ABs could probably muster two XVs that would beat everyone else. I saw an article in the NZ Herald asking if TJ Perenara might start ahead of Aaron Smith???? IF those questions are being asked - you know you're doing something right.

Waller in hot water over the alleged headbutt as well, not that there is much doubt;guy pulled him in so he took the opportunity to nut him. In the good old days that was just front rows saying hello. That was an ace game though, no tries in first half, just two sets of "forr'its" beating the tar out of each other, love it! Lawes is looking back to his menacing best again, isn't he?

9st4lbs!!!

I saw him listed as 11st 13lbs elsewhere - which might be nearer the mark. A touch of the Christian Wade about him too.

I seem to remember him looking handy in the Singha 7s as well.

Been a tough few games for Bristol...that was a hell of a humping by Wasps.

Will be interesting when they play Wuss / Falcons.

The video of Ashton biting looks pretty bang to rights - what a tool.

Tragic case study of death caused by concussion but also very helpful towards preventing such happenings in the future.

He should go back to League or go to France. His international days are done.

Still, personally I thought he was pretty handy. Scored a lot of tries for England, especially with Flood at FH, and his runs off the ball were phenominal.

BOD said he'd never seen a player with a higher workrate off the ball.

Another wasted talent for England. If someone had worked on his defence in the earlier years then he could have learned to make better decisions. I think it's improved at Saracens.

He always comes over as a personable lad off the field and his team mates don't seem to have any issues with him. Still, far too many ****ish things on the field......

Ashton couldn't tackle a kebab!

Too right.

He doesn't actually create chances either like other top wingers do. He relies on others to do the work (which Flood was very good at).

Well he's a classic RL "wingman". He scored a lot of tries which would never have been if he hadn't bust a gut to get into a position to get on the end of something.

How many "top wingers" create chances for others anyway? I haven't noticed Julian Savea setting up too many tries for people.

Ashton couldnt tackle a kebab!

He wouldn't have been a component of Gustard's defence at Saracens if he couldn't tackle.

Sarries 17-0 down against Quins. Clearly feeling the loss of Ashton in defence!

Cracking try by Wasps.

So, is Jimmy Gopperth quicker than we thought - or is George North slower than we thought?

Goppeth cheated by not running straight, what would you do if North was chasing you down? " throw the ball over your shoulder in his direction." Springs to mind! A nice story, hopefully not behind a paywall. warriors twitter feed all I could go on yesterday while stuck on the Archery stand at the Autumn Show in Malvern. Looked like a fun match, but again giving away table points by not nailing the win down from a leading position. Will catch the match on BT Sport tonight I think.

Exeter made Brizzle look pretty meek for the half of the game I saw on BT sport last night. I know there's lots who reckon they've built a team that could stay up, but I've not seen it yet, and they still make Worcester look passable!

He wouldn't have been a component of Gustard's defence at Saracens if he couldn't tackle.

He's a liability in defence and still tries to go too high. I'd trust Wade more in defence than Ashton.

Bloody Worcester yesterday. They need to learn to close these games out. Five tries really should be a victory.

Gopperth cleverly changed his angle.

True but his change of angle actually brought him closer to North and he kinda arced round him. Gopperth has looked extremely impressive at centre. He's a great all-round footballer.

The way he has performed speaks volumes for the man. Most 10's would get a bit put out at another "big" 10 turning up at the club, but Gopperth has dug in, played blinders and has owned the 12 shirt.

Good win for Tigers. I'd fancied Bath to do a job there today, but the Tigers pack did its job.

Shame about Manu. This seems to be a real issue that doesn't really want to go away. Could he be a high profile early retiree due to ongoing injury issues?

Was having the same chat yesterday afternoon - he does bring a certain x factor but has his limitations (keeping the defensive line etc) and we've coped without him.

A shame, but if Joseph keeps doing what he's been doing Manu isn't going to replace him and he's not really a 12.

Pro 12 has some cracking rugby games. There has been some great rugby in the first few games. Its got enough money to survive but will always struggle to compete with England and france

None of the good rugby has come from Edinburgh mind you. Sacked our coach now as well and our "star" 10 Meatball has broken his jaw.

Watching Exeter v Saints......great start for Chiefs.

Few questions..... When did Harry Malinder become a 10? Why hasn't Steenson got more plaudits as a 10?

Biggest puzzler of all though, why on earth has the commentator just said 'how wonderful it is to see Callum Clark back playing'? ....erm no my friend, it really ****ing isn't!!!!!

What would it benefit the Aviva Premiership to have the Welsh regions involved? If they were a good financial bet then they would be drawing in the crowds & cash now surely?
16 teams is too many, so why should English clubs move over/down for regions/clubs from a foreign Union?
It's not up to the Aviva or the T14 to ensure the long term health of Celtic rugby even if its healthy for the global game as a whole, its for the Celts to develop a sound financial model.
For what its worth, I'm not sure the way the Aviva is going is sustainable in the longer term.

Back to Saints V Chiefs..

Tricky when you are playing Zebre and Edinburgh away. The welsh Derbies get decent crowds but the money is in the TV product and the Pro12 is rubbish.
