[Closed] Royal Mail track and trace.

Been a while since I used T&T but I vaguely remember (and I'm probably wrong) that it's not really a trace (i.e. parcel in Reading depot, parcel now at sorting office ...) but basically just proof it was signed for.

I use it at work now and again - it's a bit pointless tho in that although it shows you the signature of the recipient, it has not reference to the address so pretty poor imho.

Got to agree - used it to post a item sold via eBay - postie delivered it to some random person living on (i assume!) the same street as the intended recipient and then claimed it had been delivered 🙁

How hard would it be to include the address of where the parcel was delivered to?

At least eBay were reasonable and took the proof of postage as evidence that i had actually sent the parcel and i won my buyer dispute 🙂

Bobbins. I was waiting for a frame, seller had sent me tracking number. Checked on their site as I was keen, it was showing as delivered. Went to local depot to get an explanation, they say they mark stuff as delivered when they take it out of the shed and into the van. Nuts. Frame was delivered the following day.

it is a totally pointless exercise - the last 15-20 packages that have been sent to me are deilvered with the stickers fully intact and with no one having signed for them - most are still showing as undelivered...

erm not all track and trace parcels need a signature! but they are scanned just before we put them through the door every postie will have a PDA to do this.
They are scanned when they come into the delivery office ie 6am in the morning then scanned on delivey if no ones in its scanned as unable to deliver due to no answer.

PDA = you do not have to take the barcodes off goes for recorded and Special Deliverys
