Evening,

Looking at doing one of these

or

http://www.pedalnorth.com/content/rosedale-ramble

at the weekend as I fancy a change.

Are they likely to be a swampy mess with this weeks rain?

Parts of the rosedale one will be very wet still I’d imagine. It’s usually quite damp even in summer. Rudland one ought to be okay from memory

Rode bits of those on Saturday. The open moorland stuff wasn't too bad (the descent from Rudland to Low Mill was riding brilliantly apart from the permabog) but anything woody (the BW to Gillamoor was horrid) or fieldy was still squishy, especially where there's been horses or cattle. The railway around Rosedale will be fine on the boring doubletrack, but likely boggy on the fun bits (it never seems to dry out).

I love riding the Moors, but I'd save it for when it's drier.

I'd go a touch further north, between Kildale and the Lion Inn on Blakey ridge. There won't be much good single track ATM, due to the big, but the grouse tracks will give good views and a nice run out. Avoid the fylingdales side Sam it's a swamp even in high summer
