Diz/dizinaustria. Went off to set up a holiday / guiding business in Austria and slowly disappeared off STW. Shame, the riding looked right up my street.

Avoiding economic suicide is one of my main reasons for voting Leave

When you type stuff like that you expect to get robust replies people from who stand to lose their job/business or by the time he disappeared had already lost their jobs. That thread is probably why many left, with hind sight their predictions are embarrassing. It's easier to list the fervent Brexiteers who are still around than those who have gone (but I won't)

Ernielynch - top man but he lives in Croydon, which is seeking to become a city in its own right.

Lowey, I knew about the others but that's the first time I heard that SFB had died - although I understood he was very ill. Sad news.

iDave. Left a bit of a legacy with his diet plan, not so much for the content, more for the way he took on paid subscribers (£100 ish?) before going on the run and choosing not to support them. Rocked up at various races while posting about it on Twitter IIRC.

There was someone whose MO was to just comedy troll, quite obviously so, on lots of threads. He’d often catch a few posters and wooosh them when they took his posts seriously. His posts always tickled me. Can’t think of his username though....?

Left after some postings about transgender folk that really upset her

Jambalaya – didn’t agree with his views but he was hounded by anti-brexit groupthink.

NO he wasn't. He was in no way hounded. I suspect the embarrassment of being wrong was too much for him

Cressers

Could kind of do with a doom-monger on the forum again – it would kind of be a bit of light relief.

On here as 'ohnohesback' or something.

I used to like Philconsequence's posts.

(pimp)messiah. Last time I saw him was when he nipped in past the bike shop I was building my 26” Cotic Rocket... a known destroyer of frames, knew his onions too.

39 is far too young. At least he went out whilst riding his bike. RIP Brian.

Oh man, he had a compulsion to be on every thread... can’t but think his disappearance was him getting a life (I hope so, anyways).

Jambalaya and THM (I always had my doubts, if not the same person, certainly a double act I remember J paid for THMs P... 🤔). Definitely trolls...

Hora was brilliant value for money on here. Met him once on an MNPR ride without realising. He hung around at the back, didn’t really say much and disappeared early. Someone pointed out who he was to me later, most unlike his online persona!

Also chrisdiesel, genuine knowledge on van engines with very insightful posts.

Aye, Jo seems to be loving the solitude out there.

MWS wasn't bullied in any way, I assume he just realised he spent too long on here telling everyone they were wrong.

tj re Jamba, definitely hounded.

Hounded would be posting on a thread about inner tubes and getting grief about his/her political views. But that is not what happened. Attracted like a moth to a lightbulb to political threads in which his/her opinion was in a minority. And could not resist posting untruths to support his/her opinion which others quite rightly pointed out. If that is being hounded then a fat orange dude in the white house needs a bit more hounding too.

Sorry to hear about Rachel leaving in that way - not a good reflection on the rest of us.

@hols2 Fair point. I might be thinking of @renton

Edit: on a total tangent, it’s a pity the tag notifications don’t work on the updated forum; mods - any word when this will be fixed?

: I’m surprised Hora hasn’t got a mention

Was he not the full on Lance apologist/defender?

There's a Lance thread active right now so maybe that will draw him out?

I used to find THM's blanket assertions that the adults would be showing up to the Brexit negotiations any minute quite comforting.

2-3 years later, though, none have shown up. At least not on the UK side.

Jambafact was a thing too - he was quite rightly called out on his misinformation. He kept doing it, jambafact gained momentum and I guess he didn't like it to the point where he stopped. But, to reduce this to playground levels (de rigueur anyway) he did start it.😕

@dannyh TBF the EU team appears to be adults, who are just as mystified by the UK team as the British public are.

Wasn’t there some chap who was mad keen on XC racing?

He pops up every once in a while on the Peak District MTB Facebook page.

@lowey : is that definite about SFB / simonfbarnes? Any idea when?

Its a tricky issue where someone continually posts either abhorrent views or false claims and gets hounded for it then flounces

Geetee ( I think it was) was one who got a load of flack for what was to me abhorrent views and took a mighty flounce as a result. Others who I get on with saw that as bullying. To me it was that his abhorrent views needed to be challenged at every opportunity. I think Jamba and THM are similar cases in some ways

It becomes quite similar to "no platforming" by peer pressure rather than by the mods.

I do not know what the answer is to that.
