My best was 4:17 a very long time ago. All these years later breaking 4 minutes is still incredibly difficult and still sets you apart.

Like Leonard Cheshire he had a moment of glory in the public eye and then got on with continuing a remarkable life refusing to be defined by one period.

An excellent man.

Yeah RIP, he achieved more than a quick run.. should be celebrated for the work he did behind the scenes too.
