For 2 and half weeks now I have pain around my right shoulder blade, radiating up to the top of my shoulder to my fingers and into the side of my neck,. At first it was only painful when but as time progressed it became more painful, and more frequently. At this point I have severe pain all the time, made even worse with any use of my right arm which includes washing dishes, holding ipad while sitting or lying or when going to sleep etc. My entire right shoulder feels droopy, like I can't hold it up straight for long, and it grinds and pops when I move my shoulder around at all.
Pain is also under right rib cage, also sometime center of back to under shoulder blade. Hurts to breathe sometimes on right, lots of pressure. .. Hurts even more when i am taking deep breathe when i am cycling. I tried a lot of painkillers but it doesnt have any effect to the pain at all... I really hope this would go away but its almost 3 weeks now and im contemplating going to my GP but kinda scared him telling me i will be off the bike for many many weeks. ..
The pain actually starts 1-2 days after i went OTB and landed hard on my knee and right hand..but the knee was saved by the knee pad, first thing in my mind is i am gonna have a very sore wrist but surprisingly nothing at all.. I just want to mention this in case this happens to anyone before. Please tell me the pain just going to go away without going to my GP . Thanks for reading.
Doesn't sound like you need a GP to tell you you're going to have to face time off the bike; it already sounds that way if you're saying you're in "severe pain all the time".
I sometimes don't have the best faith in doctors but at the end of the day if you get it sorted via a GP, you'll be back on the bike quicker hopefully!
Either way I hope you get sorted soon!
I'd be inclined to get it x-rayed; its not common, but you can fracture your scapula after a fall onto outstretched hands.
The fractures tend to be contained by all the various muscles that locate the scapula, so the break tends to limit itself, and is usually treated with a sling, rest, and simple analgesia- however, sometimes it can be worse than that.
I'd get it checked out.
I'd get it checked out.
+1
Thanks all, just me being stubborn or probably more scared being told to be off the bike. Fingers crossed nothing serious
xray.
I lost the front at speed Sunday last. Went to A&E after not-sleeping the night... Dislocation of the bit that holds the collarbone and blade together. Nagging pain all week and then I get a call over the w/e from A&E to say they've reviewed my xray and I've some fragments floating - recommend a GP visit and organise some physio.

Hi br.. Do you think they will tell you to be off the bike in your case?
BR's sounds like an AC tear and it comes in grades (1 to 4 in severity) I got a grade 2 one last year and was in a sling for 6 weeks followed by physio for a couple of weeks then back on the bike slowly with a shoulder support. However I have read of people recovering a lot quicker. I think mine was possibly more severe as I could certainly wouldn't have been able to ride home on it! (I could feel stuff moving in my shoulder and it hurt like hell).
OP- as everyone has said get it x-rayed its the only way to know for sure!
