I'm riding the London to Brighton on road tomorrow for the first time. I've ridden the off-road before but never the road race. I presume that clipping my number to the seat post triathlon style is okay rather than using zip ties to attach it to my expensive one-piece carbon stem and bars? I don't really care if I don't get official photographs as really I'm just doing it for the ride. I have the helmet sticker on and the number is visible at least from one side ๐Ÿ™‚

If anyone else is riding tomorrow and fancy's meeting up, especially if you fancy riding back to London afterwards, please let me know. I was meant to be riding in a group but unfortunately the group has all dropped out one by one! And seemingly there is no option for transport so I'll just have to do the 127 km home myself

There will be lots of freeloaders joining at different places along the way, so the number is only really relevant if you are keen for pics, getting the finish stamp and in case you have an off.ย

There are a few Ditchling MTB crew sneaking up the closed beacon early on, but will be heading off onto the downs at the top.ย

Conditions look perfect.ย

If you are leaving early you should miss the queues/slow traffic on the early hills.

Don't try and ride back the same route. There'll be thousands of people coming into Brighton for most of the afternoon and trying to ride back against that flow, especially on pinch points like Ditchling Beacon, will be insane.

Find a parallel route or stay over and ride back the following day.

Agreed, my route back will take me to Shoreham and then I cut north as I wanted to avoid the rest of the group coming downย
