Anyone into retro gaming?
I ordered an Anbernic console a week ago and it was delivered yesterday. Brilliant thing for £64
I've built an arcade cabinet using a mini PC in the gubbins. I do fancy a handheld though.
I have two Game Gears needing recapped, a Gameboy Advance, an original Gameboy, a Master System, a Mega Drive, an N64, a Gamecube, a PlayStation, two PS2's (have drive issues and need cleaned up) and an original Xbox that's gone a bit senile.
Would I trade them all for an Analogue? Maybe. Is it fun tinkering with them? Yes.
One of my mates hords them.. but they are totally worthless (IMO) as you can run emulators on PC.

The downside to emulators is the faff and often they don’t quite work right. That said I do fire up the old RPi on occasion to play old games.
As above, I have a bunch of originals. Atari 2600 VCS, Atari ST, Amiga A500, Dreamcast, PSX, Gamecube, ZX Spectrum, probably others I've forgotten. Mostly though if I'm retro gaming I have a ZX Spectrum Next. Jet Set blummin' Willy FTW.

As said they don't often work right as the hardware was a big part of the process. See Space Invaders for a good example of this, the reason it sped up was because it would render every single enemy from the beginning but as you shot them there was less to process so it sped up.
The Analogue machines are a very clever way of doing it, rather than emulating the software they emulate the hardware which gives the correct results.
I have a couple of play station1.
Sold most of the games.
Lost the love when one of them ate my grand turismo saves by crashing when it was saving.
When lockdown happened I bought what I thought was the upper nes mini. It was actually a million 8 bit games unning on an emulator. It was interesting to see what the games I used to play were like. For 30 min and then ingot bored

I can definitely recommend this one. It's an Anbernic RG35XX H.
Has Bluetooth, WiFi and hdmi port for connecting to a TV and using a wireless controller.
Comes with allegedly 5000+ games for all the old consoles upto PS1.

Must be nearly that time of the decade I fire up the Atari 400 for an hour or two of cartridge based fun.
I've got a Panasonic 3DO in the loft.
I found my old BBC B at my moms in original box.
Not a gaming console but only used to play Elite.

When I cleared out my mates house, he had everything from some old TV tennis game console, sega mega drive, Nintendo GameCube & chainsaw controller, numerous play stations and Xboxes and mountains of games - was quite shocked at how much some of it fetched on eBay.
I've a N64 and a GameCube and a TV with a scart connector! Playing Zelda four swords at the moment. PS3 lurking somewhere but that was my brother's and I've never played it.
I’ve all PlayStation consoles but never really use them other than my 5.
Between and my brother we've had most of them from the Commodore 64 right up until PS5. I checked out after the Nintendo GameCube but he's still well into them and refuses to sell all his oldies.
I had a big eBay clearout around 2014/15 and made a few grand, especially some of the Mega Drive and PS1 stuff (sold one rarely for 200 quid) but in hindsight would have made even more during the pandemic when everyone was sat at home on furlough and the prices went through the roof.
I have a Nvidia Shield TV Pro loaded with a few classics and emulators but would love to get one of those multi game full size arcade cabinets as that's the era where my best gaming memories come from (especially all the old SNK / Neo Geo arcade games).

Well this thread has led to me buying a Trimui Smart Pro off Aliexpress.
Partly inspired by being laid up with a sprained ankle. Bet it won't arrive in time for my holiday next week though.

I had a bunch of those. Astro Wars, Scramble, Firefox, Merlin, some no-name twin screen LCD shooter. A couple survive today. I killed my Astro Wars, running it off a power supply I discovered that if you upped the voltage the screen went brighter. So I upped it further and it went very bright, then very very dark permanently.
I've got a chipped PS1 and loads of software from back in the day, when I got my 1st, very temperamental, CD burner.
PS3 and PS 4.
Xbox, Xbox 360.
BBC B, which I don't to turn on until I replace the caps.
Also got myself a Pandora retro thing but I really need a smaller 4:3 monitor.

Like many others I have spoken to - I seem to like retro games for nostalgia and as they are shorter - they fit in better with my other commitments.
Yes, I have an emulator but also retro consoles - Sega Master System, Sega Megadrive, Sega 32x, Sega Dreamcast. Nintendo SNES, Nintendo N64, Nintendo GameCube. Some of the consoles I had - do not seem retro, but now I suppose they are - Nintendo Wii, Nintendo Wii U, Microsoft XBOX360…
One of my sons is has several retro handheld consoles - Nintendo Gameboy, Nintendo Gameboy Colour, Nintendo Gameboy Advance SP and then the more recent - but now still retro Nintendo DS.
It’s only a matter of time before our Nintendo Switch, Sony PlayStation 4 Pro and Microsoft XBOX Series S and X are also retro…
I sold all my Sega and N64 stuff in about 2012 when I moved house. Wish I hadn't! Oh well. The analogue stuff looks good, I'd be interested if/when their 3D one comes out.

The one in my original post has defender, scramble and loads of other arcade games as well as old games for consoles like N64, PS1, GB, Dreamcast etc.
It's got good reviews, screen is small but for the money is excellent value.
Bought it from Whatgeek which is based in Hong Kong.

Yep! I'm hoping against hope it'll arrive before I go on holiday on Sunday, but it probably won't so I'll report back after that.
(I wouldn't normally be fussed about gaming on a family holiday to Dumfries and Galloway, but as I'm currently laid up with a severely knackered ankle there will be a lot more downtime than usual)

Well I’ve just burnt an hour playing Gran Turismo on an iPhone mini. The licences are tricky using the screen controls plus tiny screen.
If I ever find a Stunt Car Racer emulator, I may never see daylight again.

Was at the Arcade Club a few weeks ago. That's what restarted my interest in retro gaming.
