Taken in 2005 the pic of my parents rescue dog, theve had her 10 years this year and she was another ncdl (dogs trust) dog.
Before carrie we had 2 springers and a bearded collie all rescue.
Last year I talked about getting a rescue dog for us, and we ended up with brian:
[img] [/img]

But were now on the hunt for a rescue dog as well, just need to find the right one that will fit in with the family including brian

Spencer - we were his 3rd home at 16 weeks. He's a bit neurotic but we wouldn't be without the little fella. I'm biased but he's the best dog in the world

Meet Monty. We rescued him from a back yard he had the pleasure to live in for 8 months. The house was being done up and nobody lived there. The only contact he had was somebody coming to feed him when they remembered!
The owner did let us take him, he wasn't that bothered about him.

He's a working cocker spaniel and has a mental nose! Always off following it whilst not listening to us. He is getting better at coming back but he has spent the 1st year of his life with no interaction with dogs or people, so he is making up for lost time!

We have had him 4 months now and he is a star.

Given up at 13 weeks, turned one today. From this:

to this:

And his older brother, given up aged 9, wiil be 11 next month.

[IMG] [/IMG]

He's a financial drain. Had a behaviourist out to him. Dog class, presciption food, seraquin, metacam, hydrotherapy.... and worth every penny of it.

Missy. I am the third owner that I know about. Came to me frightened of her own shadow. Pissed herself from fear every time she saw a man in a shell suit or baseball cap.

Three years on, and a lot of hard work, she's a happy girl.

Kai, on the right, was left tied up on a roundabout, spent a short while with the dog warden then some months with dobermann rescue (DRA)
His left front leg has been broken and left unfixed at some point in his life and has developed some severe arthritis
I cannot believe someone paid a high price for a pedigree dog (docked/clawed) and gave him up so easliy.

disability doesnt affect him at all, arthritis is being held at bay by a daily dose of glucosamine
he loves life, every minute of every day.

Great to see so many fantastic dogs, all of which are now having good lives were they're getting the love and attention they deserve. So, a big up to all of you for taking on a rescue (or abondoned) dog, and giving them such a great life.

No pic's, (as he died 6 years ago, so pre digital camera days), but I was lucky enough to have found my dog (a long haired German Shepherd cross) abandoned on the streets over 20 years ago now. I had him for 16 years, and he was the most loving, loyal and faithful dog and I feel priviledged to have been able to spend so many years with him. Even though it's been 6 years since he died, I still miss him.

great pics. my favourites are backhander and mog (the 1st one - i know that expression well from our old dog, the sheer panic / excitement of a stone or stick about to be thrown...).

Nuttiest dog has to be carbon337's.... coiled... spring(er)... 🙂

Thanks Jimmy!
I got Bear at 9 months from Bath RSPCA. We was on 2 yellow cards for being naughty (1 away from being put down!). It's been a long hard road and we've had some "issues" along the way but he's an absolute pleasure and so affectionate.

Just had a pup turn up at the door, no collar and having phoned the police its the 4th mystery dog today, time of the year I spose.
Think i'll have to drop it at the station we already took in an extra cat before xmas, and with the other cats and the dog weve got a line has to be drawn. Just hope it'll be alright.

This is Sumo; half husky, half shepherd, all dipsh*t. I was 'selected' by him at the Dogs Trust in Leeds about three years ago. Funniest, most loyal dog I've ever owned. Useless in anything other than snow. Not a cycling dog by any stretch. Frightened of rabbits, goats, cats, and especially nervous of the bike in the back of the van when cornering.

Couldn't be without him.

All of these dogs seem to have brilliant lives. It's great isn't it?
Antone tried these ruffwear dog shoes? any good? Bear suffers with his paws (tearing claws etc).

Sam, our rescue Huntaway cross. Welsh farmer took him to the vet to have him out put down (i suspect he was useless as a working dog as he chases anything that moves! bees, ladybirds, hedgehogs, foxes, deer, rabbits, the neighbours cat!) ended up at the rescue. He is very affectionate and craves a cuddle at home. Turned into a great trail dog and wonderful companion 8)

Sasha, Spaniel X Spaniel, had her from 18 mths from Dogs Trust.
Intelligent, Obedient, Great with kids and gentle as you like.
The best dog ever!
Why pay £500 for associated health issues, when dogs like her are £75.

Liza (left) and Meg (right). Liza was adopted as a kitten and Meg is an 8 year old American Pit Bull who was thrown out of a car window onto the motorway in Spain and we've had since she was 4 months old. We adopted her from there to avoid her being put down.

[img] [/img]

Charles, a pure pedigree British Bulldog. Abandoned at 8 weeks when the rich goons who paid £2000 for him discovered he was deaf.

Stevie, they are cool dogs.

How do you find the pit bull, ive read that they are really caring and affectionate dogs - bad owners and all that give them a bad name I suppose. Did you have to register her on that dogs act thing?

Carbon-tyhe Pitty is easily the soppiest dog I've ever owned-not a grain of aggression in her. But she's Spanish, and in Spain they are kept as family dogs and have been for hundreds of years, not as Chav Bling or Gangster Weapons like the donuts here use them for. She came through customs as a Boxer Cross so she didn't need registering.

My dog, Bonnie, she was beaten and kicked till she was about 1. Taken a long time for her to get her confidence back and even longer for her to trust anyone but me but is pretty good now. Happy to go pretty much anywhere, espesually if a tennis ball is coming too! She's AWESOME.

I wish I had got a rescue, not that I would be without Kea, but I wasnt confident enough that I'd be able to deal with a problem dog.... maybe next time. some lovely looking happy hounds here, well done.

The most useless, waste of space we've ever had the misfortune to own. No recall and nothing between his ears but fresh air. He wakes up every morning and has to relearn every thing he knew the day before! Our fault for picking a saluki I guess. But what really grieves me is we gave £90 to the Greyhound resue for him! They saw us coming I tell you.

Another Charlie. Got him last May from a rescue home where he'd been for over six-months. Probably around 4 years old. The photos sum him up quite nicely (soft as...).

Watching him run off into the distance is more scary than I could describe, but it's great to see him stretch his legs. Sometimes I think he'll take off and propel himself into orbit, which could be the best place for him, as he can't hurt himself in outspace!
Yes great book. Really we luv him 🙂 I think....

This is Roo, a collie cross, rescued with an unkown history and so named because of her ability to jump over anything to escape. Most loyal, intelligent dog I've ever had. This is her a few months before she died of cancer and right up to the very end she wouldn't leave my side even though she must have been in pain 😥 The hairy thing in front keeping her warm is Trudie the mad cat (also a rescue).
[img] [/img]

These are the current mutts aged (4 or 5 months old in this pic) - not rescues but from proper working stock who are going to get their first outing with the bike very shortly
