Android experts...
I've replaced the screen on my dad's Motorola. Hardware installed fine, Turns on with backlight and images all working, but absolutely no response to touch screen. Almost like there's no driver, (if that's a thing with mobiles)
Any suggestions before a factory reset? Thanks.
Might be worth opening it up again and making sure you didn't miss any connectors. The little ribbons can be fiddly. Compare the new screen assembly to the old one as the touch sensor and the actual screen are separate layers.
Some phones also don't play nice with 3rd party replacements, but I don't know if there's a good reason for that or if it's to prevent home repairs.
As above, take it apart and make absolutely sure the connectors or ribbon cables are fully seated/pushed in/the right way round etc...
where was the new screen from? as above, occasionally replacements can be not the best.
Also check what you bought. Some sellers sell just the lcd/led panel as a separate item to the touch panel - you literally have to peel them apart from the old screen.
You need one which is both screen and touch panel really (most are, but some sellers aren't quite so up front that this is not what they are selling).
Thanks for your suggestions gents. If the factory reset doesn't work, it's new phone time. Is an old Moto G, so it's done it's duty.
As above, sometimes the digitiser (touch screen) is separate to the glass.
There are phones where what appears to be a screen protector (tiny lip) is actually part of the screen and shouldn't be removed) and sometimes replacement screens come with a protective film on the back that needs to be removed to allow the touch screen to work.
I rechecked the eBay listing, it's definitely described as a digitiser and screen, so I've sent the seller a message for advice, but it's still not working. Ah well, I tried.
