if the rental agreement states that you should keep gardens 'well maintained', should the landlord provide the tools to do so? or do i have to go and buy a bastard lawnmower?

Or come to an arrangement with the landlord that he drops his lawnmower/tools you need off once a month for you to use.
Always best to start with a dialogue rather than a rant.
