I agree with WCA's summary. In fact I have often put forward the same theory over the food / blood thing.

Getting offended by others opinions or actions when they can have no material effect on your own life is a hangover of the worst aspects of humanity. Its the root of racism and homophobia. Given its head (as for example in 'modern' ****stan) it can be weaponised to the point where people are in fear of their lives for holding views at variance with the majority.

Its also an impulse of which some people are weirdly unashamed, to the point where they'll go on a public forum and boast about their mental sensitivity.

People eh :O)

“It's now very common to hear people say, 'I'm rather offended by that.' As if that gives them certain rights. It's actually nothing more... than a whine. 'I find that offensive.' It has no meaning; it has no purpose; it has no reason to be respected as a phrase. 'I am offended by that.' Well, so ****ing what."

Stephen Fry

Don’t be daft. If that was the case, why are they displayed on the rear window?

Also they would need the parents to take them off when the little princess isnt in the car to avoid wasting the emergency service time searching for them.

What happens if the "baby / pincess / brat onboard" sign falls off during an accident and the child isn't found by the ambulance crew and dies?
Who do the parents sue?
The sign maker or the ambulance crew?

Does that mean that if I stand behind a fairy dust exhaust then I will become infused in said dust and become more fairy-like? (I’ve always wanted wings...)

Its not a fish its a vagina turned on its side , it was an ancient fertility symbol .
Something else the god botherers nicked

No its a fish, based on the ancient greek for fish, which in turn was an early acronym. I seem to recall from school. It was used by early Christians as a secret sign to indicate where they were meeting as they were subject to persecution by the Romans.

Criminal Damage is both illegal and morally wrong.

Illegal, by definition. The moral dimension to law breaking is more subtle.

and for when we get back to Christmas, how does June sound for a celebration>

People have been marking the midwinter for far longer than the 2000-odd years since the birth of Christ… and even that’s in doubt, anyway. It was only in the year 340 AD that Pope Julius I fixed the date of Jesus’s birthday at 25 December.

Prior to that it was marked on at least three different other dates: 29 March, 6 January, and sometime in June – which historians today think is most likely, given that the nativity is meant to have occurred during a census-taking.

It was 250 years later that Julius’s successor a few times removed, Pope Gregory, gave the job to Saint Augustine of converting the heathen Brits to Christianity.

Fortunately, with the birth of Christ now established as 25 December, it gave Augustine a bit of leverage with the population who were already marking several midwinter festivals, ensuring they could take this new-fangled religion on board without losing the annual December piss-up.

Technically speaking,it's a hate crime. If I damaged a cross because I disagree with xtians spouting drivel. Or left a bacon sandwich on a mosques doorstep because I don't like the way Muslims suppress women. I'd get nicked for a hate crime. So ... If some God bothering idiot damages property because he doesn't like the truth they should get nicked, the crime should be in the local paper ,& the damage should be paid for by the god botherer.

Yeah. Loses something in translation, but it's an "ichthys." The acronym is "Jesus, son of god" or some such IIRC.

Ah, here. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ichthys

The ichthys or ichthus (/ˈɪkθəs/), from the Greek ikhthýs (ἰχθύς 1st cent. AD Koine Greek [ikʰˈtʰys], "fish") is a symbol consisting of two intersecting arcs, the ends of the right side extending beyond the meeting point so as to resemble the profile of a fish. The symbol was adopted by early Christians as a secret symbol.
...
ΙΧΘΥΣ (ichthys), or also ΙΧΘΥϹ with a lunate sigma, is an acronym or acrostic for "Ἰησοῦς Χριστός, Θεοῦ Υἱός, Σωτήρ" (Iēsous Christos, Theou Yios, Sōtēr; contemporary Koine [ie̝ˈsus kʰrisˈtos tʰeˈu (h)yˈjos soˈte̝r]), which translates into English as 'Jesus Christ, Son of God, Saviour'.

Iota (i) is the first letter of Iēsous (Ἰησοῦς), Greek for "Jesus".
Chi (ch) is the first letter of Christos (Χριστός), Greek for "anointed" (of the Lord).
Theta (th) is the first letter of Theou (Θεοῦ), Greek for "God's", the genitive case of Θεóς, Theos, Greek for "God".
Upsilon (y) is the first letter of (h)yios[10] (Yἱός), Greek for "Son".
Sigma (s) is the first letter of sōtēr (Σωτήρ), Greek for "Saviour".

Gotta say, that's kinda cool.

The "baby on board" thingy on my car is there as an explanation why i'm driving down the road like a little old lady in case a poorly navigated pothole wakes my daughter up & I have to sing bloody nursery rhymes all the way home, otherwise she'll scream blue murder until we get home instead.

I honestly thought that is what the sign was for. I stand corrected though. I have two kids and no signage. Although to be fair it’s the single people that drive like ****s as they are more likely to be able to afford a ****ing Audi in the first place.

"Most of the religions I have read up on start in deserts where you are likely to die if you eat the wrong stuff because it will be rotten. This is why you should avoid pork in some religions and shell fish can be a bit iffy in others"

Don't know about shellfish but there's a fair amount of codswallop here.

Gotta say, that’s kinda cool.

I deliver a public lecture on "reading the church". People are often fascinated by the arcana I introduce them to over the course of 90 minutes.

Heck, some even leave understanding that the choice of the 25th of December for Christmas is determined by the calculation of Easter which is, in itself, based on the symbolic date of the Spring equinox and Greek gestational theory... in other words, NOT a mere Christian rip-off of a pagan celebration. It was that too, but not nearly so much as people say on here.

Just seen this on Flipboard;

Assuming it's not a coincidence (and it probably isn't),

Over 35,000 people have signed a petition calling for the poster to be replaced – condemning it as “religious discrimination”.

It's arguably disrespectful, sure. But discrimination? Really?

When your head honcho (apparently) got nailed to a cross without a whiff of complaint to get a benny on about a mildly disrespectful movie poster is, well, sad.
