Getting chucked off Singletrack constantly again tonight, over WiFi on iOS. Seems alright on 4G? Adverts and redirects, you’ve won an apple iPhone 8 and such like. No I haven’t!

bullocks, the forum is open to non-P's, its almost more of an issue that non P's are affected as they make up the bulk of users.

Using the internet without protection is equivalent to visiting a £20 crack whore. I simply don't understand why people do it.

I'm having issues being redirected to a site that claims Adobe Flash is out of date and in need of updating (presumably trying to get you to download malware). The pages freezes the browser tab and I can't close the tab or browser or cancel the download requester; the only option is to close Microsoft Edge from the Task Manager!

I'm getting a variety of other "Download" redirects when trying to post a new thread.

Something about bathserene.com redirecting to CNN and others

You seem to be living in the dark ages, everyone needs to protect themselves whilst usin* the internet.

I had a spate of redirects and malware on my Mac and took it to Apple to sort and they offered an Apple verified content blocker which would work, they also offered a malware cleaner.

We know how the site is funded, thanks for pointing that out again.

Whether you use or don’t use a content blocker is entirely up to the user.

The T&Cs of the owners are rarely read or even would suggest ever looked at, you know how the internet works.

I do not condone using content blockers, but if that’s the only way to protect yourself then I see no reason why anyone wouldn’t.

Sorry if you think differently, that’s entirely your prerogative.

Pretty sure the T&C's apply (in any situation), whether you actually read them or not.

Of course, but what do they say?

Do you know what they say without quickly scrolling over there and reading them?

I said, T&Cs are rarely read.. which is a correct statement.

getting the same redirects here.
the main issue is that this forum has to make money as its the only part of STW that does - so there is huge pressure to increase ad revenue. Personally I believe it to be self defeating as if they did not have such intrusive ads less people would use ad blockers / would click thru on ads

Just so it’s clear why some posts have disappeared.

Our policy on Ad Blocking

Singletrackworld is an ad supported website. As a non-premier, registered user you are accepting that the displaying of ads in your browser is the cost of being a registered user and you agree that you will not block these ads. If you block the ads we reserve the right to suspend your account and/or block our content from displaying in your browser. In addition you agree not to promote the use of ad blocking on our site in either story comments or forum posts.

The ads in a very real sense do allow you to use this site without having to hand over cash for the content. If the ads were not there earning us money for the time we spend keeping this site running and filling it with content then we simply would not bother with a website at all or we would severely strip it back to just being a promotion site for the mag. It simply would not be economically viable without the ads there.

Right as mentioned email tech with screenshots and details of your operating system and browser they will look into it.

Well, to be clear, what happens is that I am switched to a new tab on my browser (Safari 10.0.2) that has just been created. As often as not the web page in that tab has been blocked by my ISP. (Just as I typed this, this one was created:
http://sennamolasses.com/d/p/bathserene.com?k=88d445f05d7c56752973ed4605e10f63.1507978633.451.2&subid=singletrackworld.com&clickid=08937c300a2842ec9847633a8d314a17&r=http%3A//srua.oaclients.com/rtrack%3Fx%3Daab%26p%3D573%26d%3Dsingletrackworld.com%26ci%3D08937c300a2842ec9847633a8d314a17&z=-60)

macOS 12.2.2 if that makes a difference.

Ads are fine, hitting iOS users on Safari with a redirect via different rogue ad / affiliate networks without them clicking or interacting is what's happening here, seems to have started in last few days and has happened to me.

Redirect URLs I've noticed are:

Smartoffer.site
Offertogo.online
App.appsflyer.com

Hope this helps - 100% sure it's not intentional.

When I was involved in a successful single interest website, we sold advertising space to trusted manufacturers, suppliers and shop keepers.
It worked very well (as did the search function). 🙂

I have no issue with adverts. As stated by silly, I was being redirected without doing anything, making the forum impossible to view/browse. I only raised it because it has never happened on Singletrack for me before but this last week it has, several times.

Just had [s]7[/s] 8 😮 redirects in a row, one while trying to type this! All listed by others above, totally ridiculous. Not blaming STW towers for it happening but they do get some heat for not doing anything about it. All on 4G on Android.

Just had the browser taken over by a page flaunting 'unseen Kim Kardashian naked' pictures followed by a virus page then the phone brick itself and switched off. The phone went into safe mode when it restarted, just run a scan and it's blocked an attempted keylogger installing.

iPhone 6s running latest version of IOS11 and browsing using Safari. Home WiFi network.

Perhaps Singletrack needs some quick cash to fund an autumn adventure to somewhere warm and sunny or they have an overdue bill to pay. I take it these dodgy ads pay them more money? They must do otherwise surely to **** it doesn't take six months plus to sort out this issue?

STW - this forum/website/software/whateverthe**** makes this place work is ****ed and has been for nearly a week. You don't need screenshots - every man and his dog is complaining and I'm guessing site traffic is massively down because the forum is unuseable. The Landrover forum I spend equal time on is never borked like this place is.

Edited to add.
Content blocker app installed - still redirecting all over the place. I'm off counting rivets on the Landrover forum, let me know when this place is useable again. Ta ra.

When you are trying to fix something, some idea of what is going on is what you need, somewhere something has gone wrong, they need some help to narrow down the search for what that is so they can look in the right direction.

If I wanted to read https://lecity.org/blogs/news/amber-lounge-monaco-teams-up-with-british-fashion-designer-safiyaa-to-kick-off-2017-monaco-grand-prix-weekend I would look up the blog myself.

I'm not a blog reader.

... I'd rather not have it auto-load (and then try and stop me going back to STW) while I'm trying to read a thread in STW! 👿

On my PC, not mobile/tablet, in this instance.

Edit: And I go back to thread I was reading and get greeted by http://movie.ienjoyapps.com/wim/lp/lp34/index_29.php?id=2 taking over the screen! Getting tired of this, might impose my own curfew on STW at this rate.

Edit2: Third takeovers of my browser window in three attempt to read threads, this time https://plarium.com/landings/en/throne/cave_view_f002r_a?plid=113737&pxl=exoclick&clickId=MjA2NDkyMHx8R0JSfHwxNzQ3MTExMnx8fDI3NTY5MTh8ODEuMTU5LjUyLjE1Nnw1MTF8fDM3ODU2Mnw0MXwyfDQwfDB8MHx8fHwxfHw1OWUyNzA0MTQ5Yzk5NS41NTMwMzkzMjQyMjQwNDQ5NTR8ODg0fHwxfDB8cG9wY2FzaC5uZXR8MHwwfDB8MXwwfDB8MHwwfDYyNjkxMzF8MHwyNjM3NDg3fDQwZTllNmM1OGQ0Mzk4ODYxNzhmOTEwNzI3Yzk5Mzkz&publisherId=2756918

Edit3: I click STW forum "overview" to be greeted with http://goto.vivastreet.co.uk/escorts/?utm_source=Adnium&utm_medium=popup&utm_content=9768&utm_campaign=adnium_popup_9768_4553_20873 screen takeover! 😯

This is poor.

Think I'm done here for the day.

So I assume there is an ad engine being used and STW has little/less control over what the engine serves up (which will be client driven based on tracking cookies stored on each PC, so not everyone gets the same ads).

Is it possible to modify the ad engine to just disable any javascript in whatever it serves up? Prevents any actions occurring and leaves just static picture adverts. Or is there a more static ad engine available?

deadkenny - ages ago in a previous discussion with Mark on this he said the animated ads were the ones that got most clicks therefore the most revenue. He wouldn't accept the argument that a reduction in these would reduce the "arms war" in ads thus leading to more click thrus from static ads.

You have to remember the ads from the forum support the whole of stw.

On the bright side I'm not having any issues browsing on a Chromebook.

To be honest I think this forum software sucks.... if you want to see how a forum should work I'd take a look at thehulltruth .com
1000's of people on line and no issues while ads are served in a reasonable way.

if you are getting redirects and constant pop ups using the site then their ad-blocking rule should get tossed. If they can't provide a safe forum experience then its up to you to prevent your computer getting possible intrusions onto your machine.

Sorry folks I went out day yesterday.

I’m going to highlight this thread again, thanks for your patience and sorry for the issues it’s causing some of you.

As mentioned Screenshots helps to try and narrow it down, posting direct links to the sites people are being forwarded causes a risk of someone clicking them.

Point of posting the link was in case the full address gave some clue as to the origin. Agreed that this poses a risk of people clicking the link, but since STW seems happy to send us off there with no clicking necessary I'm not sure posting the links is any different.

(Post composed offline and pasted in in the split second before redirect)

Being a P - and choosing to switch ads off - means you're not getting the rogue ads sent to your browser.

It would also appear that the majority (on this thread) are using iOS too? I spent some time yesterday browsing on my Android phone without logging in and didn't get any problems.
