Looking for a good ish laptop for my son. Something like this or better, HP Pavilion 17.

Any suggestions?

I've bought from Gigarefurb and Tier One in the last 12 months. Tier One was more reflective of its Grade A description, but I suppose there is always going to a range of stock, and some of that will be close to the border of A and B. Would use either again for the right machine at the right price.

Seconded for Tier 1, accurate description and a very good price on the machine I bought.

Dell outlet store prices aren't low enough to justify them over their new models, I found.

Laptops direct are good as long as nothing goes wrong, I had a right do with them over a faulty motherboard in a laptop the Mrs bought, they were insisting we had to deal with the manufacturer, even though the contract of sale was with them.

Took a loud conversation in their Huddersfield branch to get any progress.

That said my mate recently got an i5, 8gb ram hp probook or something, with an SSD refurbished, it's a nice laptop, very slim and modern looking.

YMMV
