Looking for break during July.

Ideally beside the sea / beach.

Never been down to Devon / Cornwall and would prefer to travel the old way - drive, stop-over, drive, arrive.

Have seen some ok looking apartments at a place called Westwood Ho not far from Bideford, however, not sure what the area is like...

Anyone any recommendations?

Family stuff....walks along beach, rock pools, decent places to eat.

As I say, never been to Devon or Cornwall.

Budget £1.5k max for the week.

We got back from 2 weeks on the llyn peninsula and it was honestly as good a family holiday in the UK as I could have ever imagined.

Right by this pub 🙂

Loads of stuff for the kids to do, great restaurants we found on Anglesea. Was up a fair before 6 a few mornings once to ride at Coedy, and the other to go climbing / fell running.

Looking at going back in July and its 2 hours further away for us than Cornwall at 5 hours but it just had so much to offer everyone in the family.

If you want top quality and you mean £1.5k for the cost of rental, then look here: http://www.rookecottages.net/
We've been there loads of times and can't recommend them highly enough (at any price). Exceptionally well run and immaculately presented. The fact that they're booked up for most of the time until November tells you all you need to know. Looks like there is a free week in July. Ideal location for visiting most of Cornwall and plenty of stunning coastal walks and really good pubs. Storing your bike won't be a problem either.

Thanks all. Tinners - exactly what I was looking for.

Had a look at Westward Ho...very mixed reviews on Tripadvisor.

If any of you folks fancy the borders, then we've been here couple times over the last few years.

Was very, very nice. Wood burning sauna nice way to end a day. Not huge drive from border centres and also some nice beaches down Northumberland coast.
