[#3703942]

Going through a bit of a metal revisit phase at the minute.

Thinking less Metallica & more Slipknot, Cavalera Conspiracy, 36 Crazyfists etc.

Like the shouty but audible stuff.

Less keen on the like of the Gallows ๐Ÿ˜•

So then .... recommendations 8)

Something completely unassociated, and more rock than metal but brilliant - Chinatown by Thin Lizzy.

Scott Goreham's solo (the 2nd one) is one of the best out there.

textures - any of the 3 albums, dont worry about the EP they first released, production quality is a bit rubbish and they were still finding their style.

Times of Grace - Hymn of a Broken Man
Alexisonfire - any album really
Unearth
Skindred for something a little different
Chiodos
Lamp of God
Seemless
Alterbridge
Black Stone Cherry
The last two/three are more rock than metal but well worth a look.

if you like textures, then other bands i've got on the same playlist as them at the moment are:

Aliases (ex sikth)
Sikth - both albums, first ones a bit more hectic its worth noting.
TesseracT - mainly singy, all about teh grooves
Visions - young band, but very promising album
Architects - hollow crown could be a good album to start with
Periphery - only got one album out and can't remember the name, but it's a goodn

then its worth mentioning:
skindred are fun, if you like the bouncyness then system of a down dont disappoint when looking for old school fun
earthtone9 - becuase, well they're awesome.
Cynic
Scar Symmetry
bury tomorrow - young uk band, similar to 'killswitch engage' in that its screamed verse, sung chorus formula but confident band making a good impression around the world at the moment.

ohhhhhh gunna edit in - 'Circles' from Oz ๐Ÿ˜€

I watched a video he other day, think it was nightwish, honestly I thought it was a reformed Abba dressed as pirates for Eurovision. Shocking.

Can't really help, generally like the shoutier bands. New Cancer Bats album? New Gallows with a bloke from Alexis on Fire?

Been around for a couple of decades. but I've listening to a lot of Fear Factory recently, never really surpassed in terms of ultra clinical, industrial thrash.

Maybe Meshuggah too?

EDIT, thanks philconsequence, didn't know earthtone9 had reformed

whilst i'm feeling all loved up i might as well mention that the first gig mrsconsequence watched me perform at was main support to skindred at a sold out show. we destroyed the place and had a better crowd reaction than them... pretty humbling and amazing feeling. who knows, if it wasnt for skindred i might not be getting married to her!

I used to work in the Library in Pill, you'd see Benji wandering round with his kids. just looked like a typical newport resident in his leisure wear.

Not sure I'd call Fugazi metal btw (even if they are awesome).

I've looked at my iPod, and I've been listening to Swashbuckle, pirate-metal FTW.

well, seeing as it's degenerated into "loud music I like" rather than what the OP wanted, my top tip is Converge, I bloody love 'em.

Watched them in CBGBs with The Hope Conspiracy, made me feel well tough.

"Reign in blood" by Slayer is the best metal album of all time.

Also
Hatebreed
Billy Talent
Prong
Corrosion of conformity
Nuclear Assault
Kreator

Nice mix of crossover,80's thrash and new stuff there

Maybe more hardcore than metal but try:

Your Demise
Bring me the horizon
Architects

All good and better than Gallows but still make plenty of noise!

@ Blimmer, cheers for reminding me of Devin Townsend. Didn't get to see him perform at Bloodstock last year, but footage shows he was amazing.

Anything by Chimaira:
