Just out of interest, why NOT just carry a small backpack?
Cos backpacks are less comfortable than shoulder bags when carried on one shoulder. And I want something pretty small, the size of those musettes I suppose, which means all rucksacks are too big apart from camelbaks, and I'd look a tit carrying a camelbak around.
I only put 'manbag' in the title for a laugh, all I want is a small bag, nothing wrong with that 🙂
a game bag with a keep net front (normally for keeping dead rabbits or fish in) is handy for a waterproof.

Last night, right, I seen a bloke get done on the DLR for not having a ticket. For a £1.70 journey.

Every day three blokes who work in my office go out to the local shops together to buy lunch.
They all toddle off with their "man bag" over their shoulder.
They're all around 50.
Look pretty daft to be honest.
As far as I'm concerned, no man should ever get involved with using an umbrella (get a proper coat), carrying a "man bag" (you look like a girl) or wearing a scarf (you look like your mum dressed you).

A gentleman may carry a furled up umbrella, ideal for hitting any young ruffians that should accost one. The school scarf is also acceptable. But a "man bag"? No, never.
So what should I carry my book and computer in? A bag that's too big, just to keep you lot happy?

Maybe a briefcase with handcuff accessory?

Rucksacks are often too bulky yeah, all that chucking both arms in the straps, hot in the middle of your back, especially if you are wearing a suit where it gathers the shoulders up and gapes the lapels... You'll look like a tramp in 42seconds precisely and stink in 11minuites.
Chuck a “man bag” or satchel (WhatEva) over your shoulder and settle into a sea of calm aloofness.

Wear a backpack and you look like a foreign student. Back when I was a kid, it was perfectly acceptable for MEN to have a shoulder bag, usually an old army gasmask bag, to carry their sarnies and flask to work in. My dad had one, probably his original service issue one, although, having been imprisoned by the Japanese in Changi, it may not have been one he was given on enlisting. So, if it was perfectly ok for working-class men to carry their bits-and-bobs around in a square canvas shoulder bag, why does elfin and others feel the need to sneer at blokes doing exactly the same thing?
