Evening,
On the market for a new laptop as currently use a netbook whihc is crap, and an iPad which is ok.
Going to be light usage, kids starting to use for homework e,t.c but I don't want something that is going to be completely outdated Ian matter of weeks.
I was looking a pt the macs for their longevity and their integration with an iPad. Although I now have a Samsung s3 so was thinking of a Samsung tab and then a Samsung laptop but I struggle to find any with a cd drive.
Based on your criteria, your answer is "anything".
Give us something to work with here. Budget?
There's no such thing as 'Samsung integration'; PCs are PCs. Where'd the tablet requirement come in to it?
Ok simple solution get a desktop pc. It will always be where you left it and the kids can't take it to their rooms. Have a look at Dell online etc. See where your budget lands. If your not doing anything heavy then it will last for a long time. Save the money you would have spent on apple and get a new disc or ram in a few years.
Win 7 has some good parental controls that you can prevent kids from screwing it up.
If you use something like chrome it will integrate across devices. With a Google account and Google drive I am integrated across 2 phones 2 desktops and a laptop. My current desktop is the one I have had for 10 years every so often it gets new bits like a bike and carries on. Currently doing video editing and 3d simulation for something that costs less that 500. No brainer really.
Cheers mike, sorry no real budget to speak of.
Tablet requirement is to use at work hence the requirement for integration. What I like about Samsung is that I can record videos on the phone and play them on the tv without buying an extra bit of kit!
I bought a MacBook Pro, 3 1/2 years ago and it still performs today as well as it did back then.
For the past 6 months I have used it daily for my business which involves everything from spreadsheets to cad packages. It never misses a beat.
We aim to have a few quid spare in the business next year so two new MacBooks are high on the list.
I paid around £900 for mine and would guess it is still worth around £550 - 600 so it's true cost is very small over a number of years.
another vote for the MacBook Pro, I have the 15" Retina and its a lovely thing
