Thinking about getting a stunt / sports kite....nothing too serious but also not a toy!

3m blade is good, not sure what the modern equivalent would be but that size will be good fun,
Edit, just reread your post, a sports kite and not a power kite, doh!

In strong enough winds a Blade will try to kill you and its never a good idea as a first power kite.

These things are fun though http://www.flyozone.com/landkites/en/products/fix-bridle-line-kites/imp-2-line/info/

Pack up very small, easy to use and pretty much indestructible. Good fun. We always have one in the boot.

IMHO unless you buy a reasonable quality delta kite (triangular) they can be quite difficult to fly. They have a very narrow wind speed window, what speed wind you can fly them in.

If you want to fly something that's quite easy to learn, will pull you about a bit, and not destroy itself on impact, then a two line power kite would be the way to go.

I started with a 3.2m HQ Symphony. Packs down to a bum bag size, will fly in a light breeze up to 25mph, drag you about but also be quite nimble so you can do multiple loops.
