I don't want to spend a fortune as I can't see I'll be doing endless Triathlons but having a decent robust watch with a few features such as stop watch/lap timer etc that's water proof would be handy.
What's the best I can get for around the 50 quid mark?

Extra weight and it'll upset the air/water flow over your arm. Don't wear a watch unless a sponsor pays you to.
Edit: and it slows getting the wetsuit off.
