For work, I need to record a bunch of interviews, so need a simple camcorder, than can record up to 120mins at a time, good audio recording, and importantly, can cope with low light i.e. being in your living room in the evenings so just standard lights rather than lots of outdoor light.

What to look at (simple and budget is fine - not pro stuff!)

Thanks

I bought a hard-disk based one for my wife a few years back, works well and very easy to use - but storage/upload becomes a problem with big files.

We had a mini-tape one before, and that was just a faff.

Maybe look at a web-cam type one, talk to your IT first?

We've tried the web cam approach, and it's kinda OK, but ideally need a bit more portability / something more discrete than having a laptop knocking around.

Flip camera or kodak playsport type thing for office based simplicity.

Used them here for community based filmmaking and still good results on the big screen. No one ever calls for tech support.

Brilliant.

cbike - wondered about them, they OK in lowish light/indoor use?

Yep they are fine. If you need a boost turn on a table lamp beside the interviewee and it looks like you have an OB truck and a best boy on standby.

The interiors here were in a dim south african kitchen.

cbike - really helpful - thanks. The audio sounded OK - I guess you need to be relatively near the person?
