Hi, been wondering about replacing my well worm Gaggia Classic with a bean to cup machine or something more modern and less messy. Needs to have milk frother. It is for home use, mostly one or two cups at a time. Thanks

I bought a DeLonghi 4200 to replace a Gaggia Coffee Deluxe which I think is pretty much the same internally to your Classic. Having had it a couple of weeks now I would say that it produces espresso that is very close to the best I could ever get out of the Gaggia. But it does it very consistently. So it is nearly always (made up numbers...) 95% excellent instead of varying between 80%-100% excellent. Now it's bedded in a bit I'm going to have another tinker with the settings (one click finer grind?) to see if I can get that last 5%.
One huge benefit of us though is the simplicity of it - it's so simple I can tell one of the kids to go and make me a coffee instead of having to get off the sofa myself!
Can't comment on the milk frother - I don't froth milk.
ESAM 5600 here, makes lovely coffee. Currently nagging me to descale it mind you & I can't remember where I put the bloody care kit.
Many Thanks - useful advice!
Our delonghi 4200 is bloody brilliant. Once you get the settings right and it's rinsed through a couple of times it is excellent. Best crema ever! The milk frother is decent too - just get a milk thermometer.
