Afternoon

Joining this digital age by getting an iPod and I'm after something to plug it into so I can hear it.

Any recommendations for docking stations with speakers?

I like the look of the Roberts ones (MP43, 53) as they also do CD and DAB. Probably going to replace the living room hifi with whatever I get so any comments in that regard are welcome.

How much do you want to spend?

I have a vita r2i and am really impressed with it, fills the room with crisp clear sound and looks fantastic too.

I got one of these zeppelin mini for Christmas.

Sound quality is awesome for all music types. I use an app on the iPhone to play radio through it as well. Best price I could get was at John Lewis, £289.

Money well spent IMHO, the sound quality from cheaper docks has never been anything to write home about.

Interested in these gadgets, but I'm holding on to my cash until they start supporting Airplay - hopefully soon ...

Thanks for the suggestions.

My budget probably isn't going to stretch to those Vitas and Bowers Wilkins if the unit is to include CD and DAB as well as a dock.

That Denon looks interesting. If I had the other bits to go with it (speakers and amp) I'd be very tempted.

Looking to spend around £200 by the way.

Bought one of those for my Sister & Brother-in-Law for Christmas, I've not listened to it but they are very happy. Good spec and price.

I like the look (and price!) of that Sony one. Could save myself a £100 getting that and buy myself a little bicycle upgrade...

I've seen several Sony ones going for around £40ish. Got to be a good deal.

Panasonic do some nice ones for less than £200 including CD and DAB.

They are not in the B&W class perhaps, but neither are they £3-400. I got the top of the range one as it had bluetooth. Shop around as I expect pricing a falling as they have been around a while.

+1 for the bose. I bought mines a couple of years ago for £250. At that price it's a steal

Excellent stuff. Thanks for the further suggestions.

I like the look of the Bose stuff and their marketing with regards to sound quality is second-to-none. However, if I want iPod + CD + DAB I'm looking at spending £500-600. Sod that.

Maybe I'll pop into Currys/Comet or Richer Sounds for a browse.
