MegaSack DRAW - 6pm Christmas Eve - LIVE on our YouTube Channel
Quick one - I want to buy a RPi to get into electronics/programming etc. I have essentially zero experience of either.
I understand the B+ has a few improvements over the B, so sounds like it makes sense to get the B+, but I'm wondering if most tutorials/guidance out there will be based on the B, so having a B+ may be a little confusing?
Are there any good reasons to get the B over the B+ ?
Thanks,
Duane.
I don’t know the answer but if any Raspberry Pi will do then I have an original model B you can have for nowt. Only the unit, a basic clear case and Edimax wi-fi dongle. No power supply.
I think you are confusing the different models. There is a Pi 1 B+ (released 2014), which is an improvement over the original Pi 1 B.
The Pi 3 B is much newer than these, with loads of improvements etc. There is no Pi 3 B+ (or Pi 3 A etc).
Most things are compatible with any model of Pi, ie you can run the same operating system and software etc. So most tutorials would work fine with any model. I don't think there's any point in buying an older version, unless you have some specific hardware that's only compatible with that.
Just get the latest Pi 3 but they're all good.
I've got a Pi 2 running OSMC and it also hosts my (small) company website - Wordpress, MySQL, PHP, etc.
Fantastic bits of kit.
CraigW - oops, you're right!
Reeso - thanks for the offer, I've ordered a 3 B just to keep it simple! Cheers though.
