I woke up this morning to see it's raining again, which is good news in my view because it hasn't rained in atleast 12 hours. Now I know we had about 3 days of good weather, and everyone went bonkers and the media shat themselves, but this is starting to get abit silly... it never ever seems to stop raining...

Yeah rain and chilly temps forecast on and off for the next few days. I'm ready to emmergrat. Heard something really depressing on the radio the other day saying the gulf stream may fail and the UK would see much more of this type of weather if that happened. I'll be off south in a campervan as really do feel rubbish when the weather is bad.

I’d like it to be dry for a few days when i’m not working so I can get stuck into the garden. It’s gone a bit feral.

It's a bit boring now, but it is April.. traditionally the wettest month.

What do you look like holding an umbrella?

Wouldn't it be funny if those few sunny days last week were "The British Summer"?

Went out yesterday in blazing sun, got rained on ten mins later for about 30 seconds, then blazing sun again. Had to hide in Ernie's love tunnel for 5 minutes while it absolutely pissed it down, and then rode home in the dry again.

It's April.

It may be April, but in 4 days time it will be May. And it is sleeting here in the valley with snow forecast on the tops. The lambs are hunched up against the cold and the ewes are suffering as the grass refuses to grow, it is just too cold and wet for the time of year. Looking at the map above we had almost 200% of our monthly rainfall in March, and apart form 3 dry days last week there hasn't been a 24 hour period in April when it hasn't rained either.

Meh, the trails around here were drying up nicely and there was almost some dust on last nights ride.

Welshfarmer, talking about Lambs - saw a ewe with a bloody bottom that had fallen over on the hillside last week's ride - best to help back to its feet or best to leave to farmer/nature/itself to get up and not be so lazy?

Advice round here is to help fallen sheep get up.

Good to know, thanks. I genuinely didn't know so just left it there incase of interfering with a birth /post birth thing. Felt a bit guilty since.

@Scruff. Definitely worth trying to stand them up again. The very act of approaching them will determine whther you have done the right thing. Either she will jump up in adrenaline fueled shock at your approach and will take herself off somewhere else to carry on doing whatever she was trying to do, or else she will struggle when you approach but remain "cast". In which case, turn them onto their sides but hold them there for a while to let the gasses settle and the balance organs to correct themselves before letting the ewe stand. In your case, the bloody rear end may be due to a difficult birth, retained afterbirth, or if she has been down for any length of time then maybe foxes or ravens have been attacking her most vulnerable parts 🙁

I’m happy for a bit of rain, it saves me watering the garden, there’s lots of new stuff been planted that’s just getting started.

Make the most of Saturday, after two days of miserable and preceeding two days of torrential wet weather!

I went mad last week when I saw the sun and bought a trampoline for Funk Jr. It’s still in the porch.

People at work were mocking me for wearing linen trousers and riding into work in shorts and a T. I kept telling them I’m making the most of what is likely to be the only few days of sunshine for this year!

I’m ready to chuck it in and move back to Van. So fed up.

To be fair good week to do some much need maintenance on the bikes.

The local trails were starting to promise some dryness on Thursday night, meaning I was riding the steeper, trickier stuff with some semblance of competence. Today, after a day of rain, I was back to imitating Bambi on ice.

By this time of year we’ve normally had a few weeks where the trails become bone- dry before the summer monsoon starts. Not this year - we’ve had a few days of drying followed by days of rain and it means the ground is still holding loads of water despite the trees sucking it out. There were tracks I used earlier that looked like ponds. And of course the main grumble is that its been wet since early autumn. I had a conversation in the woods earlier about mud tyres - it’s almost May!

EDIT: Dammit. I followed the "How to post a video" instructions and everything. 'The Rain' looks very good though, as dystopian horror series on Netflix go.

I fear its going to be the new normal.

A mate of mine who studied climate change, told me ages ago we would have rubbish weather for mountain biking to look forward to.

Yeah, I keep hearing things like this. For weeks I’ve been promised fantastic weather towards the end of next week but that part of the week never seems to turn up.

Torrential rain mixed with sunny bursts here, with a cold wind.  Can’t leave any washing out and the roads were partly flooded when I did the school run this morning.

British weather forecasting used to be easy: there's an 80% chance that tomorrow's weather will be just like today's.

But this year, it's more like 80% chance that tomorrow will be completely different from today.

Now I know we had about 3 days of good weather, and everyone went bonkers and the media shat themselves

Can we call that summer now?

At this time of year one's thought's inevitably turn to Christmas. Which emotionally charged supermarket advert will win the public's hearts, do I need winter tyres for the 75 Connoisseur SE and what theme will the STW Christmas do be after last years roaring success, no trousers, Michael Barrymore, masquerade ball.

The sooner we can get back to bog slop and cleaning bikes after every ride the better! Keeps the fair weather mimsies out of our hair.
