Do you have to have the data connected to get it to track your ride, or just the satellite link?

Yep, It works without a data connection active, but obviously you won't get peptalks and live tracking, and you won't be able to consult the map during the ride.
It will upload the route when you re-activate data or get to wifi.

Cheers, that's all i use it for. The pep talk is annoying anyway!
Ive not bothered to use the live tracking thing as yet, nice to know its there as a backup though.

You might find it takes slightly longer to get an initial satellite lock too by the way. Just wait till it says GPS:Ok before you start recording.
