Same reason labradors do anything. Food.

The lorry one is actually due to weight ratings. Not tax as suggested way further up. I'd love to know the reason for that answer. A unit with a midlift or tag axle can carry more than a 4x2.
A tag is rear lift axle giving a shorter wheelbase for tighter turns.

What I want to know is why do you never see baby pigeons?

Have you ever seen a photo of a squab (baby pigeon)? If your kids were that ugly, you wouldn’t want anyone to see them either!

northernmatt: What I want to know is why do you never see baby pigeons?

I had a baby pigeon that appeared in my garden looking half dead, fed it on Alpen and soaked barley died soup mix, lived in an outbuilding that I closed at night incase a cat got it, after a couple of weeks it spooked and flew up onto the roof just like that.
It flew off but came back for food for a few days, it had a white bit on it's back, around this time a load of pigeons started to hang around, I assumed to get the food but they stayed away on the opposite roof, they came day after day until one morning mine ventured over to the opposite roof, other end from the pigeons, one flew over beside it, and it had a white patch on it's back, another then joined them and after a bit of pigeon chat they flew off together, they never came back after that.

Why do people think that women who aren't white collar workers
should work for peanuts, or people who are self employed for that matter?

Baby pigeons in our garden are bigger than their parents and are as daft as a brush (eg sparrow hawk eats most of them).

What was the colour orange called before oranges had been discovered?

The fruit had green skin. And anything of a russet hue was called red, because orange was completely unknown.
I’ve become a regular viewer of QI over the last few years, this question has featured on there.

Well everything which looks black isn’t actually black, it’s just a very dark shade of an actual colour.

Many years ago I was on a day-release college course in Bristol, at either Bower Ashton or Ashley Down; I went to both, and one of the other students did wonderful illustrations with a whole range of black pens, felt tips and fountain pens with black ink, on heavy watercolour paper, then she’d use a plain water wash with a fine brush, letting the ink spread, making a whole range of different colours - reds, greens, blues, purples, the effects were stunning. Quite a skill in remembering exactly which particular make or version of a pen would go a particular shade of a particular colour.
