I've been puzzled by the the almost pathological hatred the Tories have for the common man. They are not the Tories I remember from my youth, and Labour seemed to adopted a lot of the disdain as well.
If it's true, this could go some way to explaining it.

Living in a bubble? I hear many defenders of the tories who think that Labour will (recite list from DM/Express) and that any pain is worthwhile to keep the scroungers in line etc. etc.

The Tories of my youth closed the steelworks, put 12000 people in my town on the dole and sent the coppers round to give them a good hiding when they complained about it.
If that wasn’t pathological hatred of the common man, I don’t know what is.

If I was a Tory, and I'd based my entire career on fooling people into voting for me even though it's massively against their interests, by repeating essentially the same mantra of bullshit every 4 years, I'd probably hate my own voters too.

So which ones were they? When have the Tories ever been benevolent to the "common man"?
EDIT : Yeah, what perchy said.
I heard Theresa's speech on the radio earlier today. You're wrong, she and her party are all about the working people of this country

Surely, humour?

Certainly are from mine just not quite as bad but working on being worse.
Rubbish Perchy the police were very friendly.
Here's one handing out ice pops.

EDIT : Yeah, what perchy said.
Indeed.
And Redcar, and the trouser fumble the Welsh Valleys suffered.
The Tory’s are closing in on themselves, creating an inward retarded view and sucked in by their own mantra.

I thought it was why they existed

Didn't grow up in the 80's in the north then? My journey to school took me past Parkside colliary. So I got to witness, almost daily, rows of black marias full of Thatchers tooled up stormtroopers, all bussed in from the south on premium overtime, beating the living shit out of the dads of my mates at school. All for having the affrontary to want to keep their jobs, and maybe not have to live in abject poverty
The Tory's are the lowest form of human life. They are all utter ****s devoid of any shred of empathy, compassion or human decency. They hate us! Always have! And we all hate them right back! I cracked open a bottle of bubbly when that evil bitch died, and I'd happily dance on her grave, then piss on it!
Bizarely, right under Binner's post I've got a pop-up advert for a subscription to the Torygraph, sorry Telegraph.
And these present shower of shit are even worse than their 80's incarnation. They're *ing unhinged and want to turn the Uk into some sort of massive Victorian Workhouse, where we're all serfs doffing our caps to our masters.
Our only hope of salvation is the fact that they're also totally *ing incompetent!
the fact that they’re also totally ****ing incompetent!
At least that's something all modern political parties can unite on.
That picture is from Orgreave.
That’s what the Tories thought of the working man.
They destroyed the area I grew up in (Barnsley).
I detest them.
I’ve been puzzled by the the almost pathological hatred the Tories have for the common man. They are not the Tories I remember from my youth,
When was your youth, and what do you remember from it ? 😳
When have the Tories ever been benevolent to the “common man”?
That’s not entirely fair. I despise them from the bottom of my being, too, but there is a legitimate tradition of being ‘red Tory’ or One Nation Tory, or whatever you want to call them. In my experience, many of the latter sort cared as much about the well being of people as the left-of-centre parties. They’ve always been a minority, but they have been there.
The Tories are just especially vile now because they have been 100% co-opted by neo-cons, New Populists (UKIPers), and complete, unmitigated asshats, such as we have never seen before.
The motto of this year’s Tory conference should be:
If Assholes could fly, this place would be an airport.
The most tragic thing about this present collection of soulless, joyless moral vacuums is that if their iconic bitch-queen did return from the dead I think she’d be as utterly appalled by them as the rest of us.
Yeah. But blue passports people.
Oh look another thread bashing the current in power political party.
Sure the bashers above could do a better job, baffles me why the above arnt MPs. Of course I expect another similar thread when Labour get back into power.
😉
I can't comment on this subject because there'd be nothing left after the swear filter was finished.

It’s not a case of bashing whoever’s in power. I’ve despised these utter and complete *s with every fibre of my being for decades - with a hell of a lot of justification - and I’ll carry on loathing the *ers post-Brexit once they’ve done enough damage to see them out of power for generations
Oh look another thread bashing the current in power political party.
In the last 5 years which policies have benefited the general working person the most?
... and whoever did the graphics for the big screens at their conference has just gone on ‘The List’ for crimes again Typography.
Sweet Jesus! It looks like they’ve given a 12 year old with ADHD a can of red bull and Mac with after effects on it
The ****s!!!
They are not the Tories I remember from my youth,
I detest the one's I remember from my youth. When that witch Thatcher shuffled off this mortal coil the news reports showed clips from back in the day when she was in charge,I thought with the passing of time I'd got over it all until those news clips were shown,I ended up turning the air blue & shouting at the telly ,utter bunch of arrogant self serving...I can't finish off this sentence as the swear filter will go into meltdown...
Binners, one of my cousins was a miner at Parkside, his description of the tories from that era would also overload the swear filter!
Luckily my family never felt Thatcher's wrath but as I watched the vans full of coppers heading north I knew something was very
From that moment I've hated the tories. I guess some of them might be ok but I'm not prepared to give them the benefit of the doubt.
Binners, when you are finished with the grave can I set it on fire?
Nice picture of Rees-Mogg with his favourite rhythm material...
I'm from an area of the north that the Tories absolutely decimated in the 70's and 80's. Tens of thousands of people forced out of work because of privatization. I hate them.
I hate the working classes who vote for them.
I know a lad, stuck in someone's nice little rental earner/former LA property, on minimum wage, in a job that used to pay a reasonable wage before he was forced into contracting. He can't afford to drive, go on holiday and lives in a house share. Existing to go to his dead end job that will never change his position in life. I was stunned he thought the Tories have done their best for people like him and more importantly they have punished them ****ing lay-a-bout scroungers down the road!
North of England- started work in 79, indirectly involved on the miners strike.
I can not write down how much i hate these *****
Too many politicians off all persuasions these days have degrees but not much other experience of the real world. It's not that long ago I could name most of the cabinet and shadow cabinet. These days I'd struggle to name half a dozen…
I should have pointed out that I left the UK in 1970 and didn't return until 2004, so I was in a different bubble, an Australian one. 🙂
I wasn't paying much attention to UK politics in that period.
Aneurin Bevan
What is Toryism but organised spivvery? … No amount of cajolery can eradicate from my heart a deep burning hatred for the Tory Party … So far as I am concerned they are lower than vermin.
speech at Manchester, 4 July 1948

Myself and my partner have spent our entire working lives doing our best for the old the sick and the poor. don't you insult me.
We have seen first hand the people forced into poverty and ill health by these inhumane vermin. We have seen the damage the tories do and have done our best in little ways to alleviate it - all for wages that to many of you are poverty level
To shamefully misquote Verbal from The Usual Suspects;
”the greatest trick the Tories ever pulled was to convince the world that they weren’t entirely selfish nasty bastards.”

A few weeks ago I went to see The League of Gentlemen* at the Liverpool Echo arena and they did a scene in the local shop where a woman ( Mark Gatiss ) said to Tubs. "Hello. I'm your local Conservative representative"
Sticking two fingers up at her, Tubs shouted "**** OFF"
The whole arena went mad cheering. 😂
*You really should go if you get the chance. It's bloody superb.
Another hater here, from another area destroyed by that ****ing woman and her ****ing friends.
Never forgive, never forget.
I should have pointed out that I left the UK in 1970 and didn’t return until 2004, so I was in a different bubble, an Australian one.
Well that explains it.
I was stunned he thought the Tories have done their best for people like him and more importantly they have punished them **** lay-a-bout scroungers down the road!
But thats exactly the strategy...always scapegoat some poor tossers with no power so the angry will direct their fire at the wrong target.
Jews, immigrants, foreigners, gypsies, skivers, layabouts, ****less chavs. single mums, poles, romainians, benefit scroungers.......it doesnt matter who - as long as they have no power or representation - these are the source of your problems...not the landowners, not the 1%, not the billionaires who pay no tax they are on the side of hard working people like you - not laughing behind your back.
I'm all in here.
Will be postering my house up with Corbyn stickers come the G.E, if it ever happens.
What part of your soul must be missing to contemplate even supporting, let alone voting for, the utterly inhumane vermin that is a Tory? I can only conclude that you must have a form of mental illness. It’s the only explanation.
It's people who have got stuff that don't want it to be in the hands of people who haven't got stuff.
Funny because a lot of them claim to be Christians, and how they reconcile Conservatism and Christiany - is one of the mysteries of space and time
They need to read The Spirit Level.
