Looks like he's putting his exit strategy into action...

With Trump gone, and Boris looking increasingly like he'll go in the New Year, he'll have no direct Post-Truth political allies left in the world, so he's doing his deals now... Apparently he's set to be granted his retirement wish that would grant "ex-presidents lifetime immunity from criminal prosecution."

I guess maybe he'll send Trump a postcard from a Desert Island somewhere to stick on his prison cell wall! 🤔

You probably could make it up, given the source.

I never believe capitalist propaganda.

But haven't the US recently absolved their military from facing any and all charges of alleged war crimes ?.

A bit like the pot calling the kettle black there methinks ๐Ÿ˜•

Putin has only ever had one exit strategy, to make sure that he has his hands on the levers of power until they put him in his wooden box

The NY Post is a dubious news source, I've seen this reported in the Daily Express too, which is also a dubious news source.

I seem to recall the same rumour being bandied around as far back as 2012. I'll believe it when Putin is dragged kicking and screaming out of St Basil's.

I doubt that tbh. I think he'll be in power for as long as he wants to, but he'll also set himself up a very comfortable retirement, from which he can still intervene and influence but not have to be in charge.

But how comfortable a retirement do you need at 68, his net worth is estimated at $70 Billion, but Bill Browder says it could be as much as $200 Billion. Still it's not bad for someone who is paid $187,000 per year.

He's already built himself a nice new Dacha at a cost of $1 Billion known as Putin's Palace, how much more can a man want.

There's the comfort you get from money, and there's the comfort you get from legal protection and installing a successor that will preserve the country in a state that suits you and will do what you tell them when it's convenient.
